Time traveller?
Why not just scoot into the future, try the game out then come back & get a founder's pack if you like it?
Ps: While you're at it, bring me back the Madcats, yes?

I think of the founders packages as more than just collector's items for die hard fans. You get more than just a tag (and a mech or 4, depending on the package you purchased.) You get premium account time worth $10 / month and in game currency (worth $40 or $80, depending on the package you purchased.) If you buy the elite or legendary, the mechs are worth $15 each.
If you can't see the value in the packages and only see it as a risk, the Founder's Packs aren't for you. They are for people who think, "This is gonna be awesome!" (No pun intended.....) They also show great enthusiasm for the game. I have been dying from the anticipation ever since the first teaser and die hards were thinking, "Mechwarrior 5! Cool! About ******g time!"

That was said about SW:TOR, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, and probably a handful of other titles. Clearly videos can be disceiving.

I played Battletech in grade school and LOVED it, now, nobody plays the table game so this is my one last hope. I'd be happy to be a founder but I have to at least try the game.
Cola Nut or Un Cola Nut, chose wisely.
There are Founders and many others that are not.

Just thought I'd mention it but there is another game coming out that is more along the lines of the tabletop game in that its turn based I believe. If you have mixed feelings about ordering the founders pack your not alone. I've decided to wait until open beta to give it a try too. I love the battletech genre but I'm just not convinced yet either. Its not that long a wait and then we'll see.

"To be or not to be, that is the question?"
If in doubt, just buy the box set and be happy, and catch up to the rest of us when u can.
With the starter mechs and the C-Bill % add, we will have a big head start.

Wrong, it is not a pre-order of any kind.
Go back and re-read what it is. "A collectors item for the die-hard fans on the franchise"
wrong, I said: OF SORTS. He is complaining that he cannot get a chance to play the game, and is whining about spending money on said game with out said chance. I equated it to preordering a game that has yet to come out, such as say: Assassin's Creed III. I for one have not had a chance to play that title, but my faith in UBISOFT and in the prior titles said: I can take a risk and preorder the game. As such, in a way, you are pre-ordering the game, especially when you look at the fact, you are getting 1 to 3 months of premium account time and a set amount of in game money, this to me, is a pre-order of SORTS. I gave my support to PGI on the basis of: I love the franchise and cannot wait for the title to come stomping out of the gates.

Sorry, PGI doesn't owe you anything. Begging for beta access wont get it for you. You might get in by signing up for it but PGI isn't about to lose sleep if you never buy a Founders Pack from them considering you can give them money later anyway. So either buy it now and maybe get a mech of wait till later and not get said extra's but still support the game. No biggie.

If you liked the table top game, that was turn based. There is a new version of that coming out too! Check this out:

While MechWarrior Online is the pinnacle of the 1st person experience of piloting a Battlemech. MechWarrior Tactics is the rebirth of the old pen and paper version of BattleTech now digitized. Should be in open beta in the next month or so.

Much appreciated for the link. Used to play the table top ages back but ended up moving and losing my group for it, this looks very promising!
