Ill give you an easy one.. so you don't stop playing this new forum game (btw, i likes it)

Max effective range of lasers & ballistics plox.

Do you really think that quizzing him on information that is readily available with a simple google search is going to prove anything?

What's your end-game here in harassing the guy?

And you dont have an answer for me...

It's a simple question which is a CORE foundational mechanic... max effective range of lazors and ballistics?

Is the OP trying to set us all up for a big troll/joke?

If the stinking cesspool of toxicity and sexism that is Counter Strike chat is what's incoming, then most of us will be doing only one of two things:

1. Auto-muting everyone.
2. Moving to another, more friendly, less chatty game.

Sorry it's late I was thinking of going to bed.

I was under the impression that max ranges are twice the optimal except int he case of missiles.

With a steady damage decline.

Again, balistic velocity isn't a mechanic it's a stat.

Ghost heat is applied when firing too many of the same weapon. It's rate of increment depends on the weapon and how many extra you fire. It appears multiplicious in nature, so that firing 2 over the top of the standard cut off is much much worse than firing just 1 over.

It's different at tier three (you would never just cruise up and shoot another mech in the back at point blank range), but you don't need to worry about that starting out. At tier three you are facing a lot of very good players using comms in PUGs.

And if you play Elite: Dangerous, just use your Joystick like you were playing any of the previous MechWarrior games. MWO's Mouse+Keyboard is really no better, it's really for if you don't want to own a joystick and many MWO players don't want a joystick. Just saying your joystick for Elite will work well with MWO's interfacing.

Most of the players posting on the forums are from the Closed Beta or Open Beta so we have seen better versions of MWO than you have since Nov 16th and they were all less one dimensional than the current Laser Vomit which is pretty dummied down MechWarrior, I guess for the Steam release. Same thing has happened in other games to save a new wave of players from being overly challenged.

Anyway, I wouldn't tell new players to avoid veteran players because we post like beta testers. We are.

I am interested in McGral18's questions. He knows the game more than PGI does when it comes to how it operates.

shooting a mech at under seismic sensor range is inadvisable anyway tbh, You don't need to point blank shot it.

I'm open to you explaining why a hard limit has any effect on a players decision making process. Engine crit mechanics don't work in the game. You can shoot small pulse lasers 1000 times with a class 7 targeting computer and never crit the engine out. although you can crit ammo and other components easily enough.

I wouldn't even know what to google in order to try to understand what importance you place on this hard cap. Being cryptic about it doesn't prove a point either.

Oh, you can Crit engines just fine, like the cockpit, life support, actuators and such. They have no effect aside from 15% extra damage and Crit Padding.

Most are at 10HP, with the engine at 15 hp.

le sigh... mr. game mechanics... le sigh..

not even close this time...

there is a golden 20m sweet spot where even NORMAL radar can lock-on ECM...

again iirc.. it is 180m to 200m... that tiny sliver..

mounting Advanced Sensor Module increases that to 180m to 250m...

so you can lock-on to an ECM mech... with no counters, by just being in that sweet spot...

ughh... this just proves that you know nothing jon snow.

The cause is the Magic Jesus Field which quarters sensor range. So, MJF is from 200m to infinity, which the Jesus Box was cut down to 90m

So, you can target from 90 m to 200m by default, without disruption.

I think he's done alright so far.

Let's ask him about the Crit system...how he understands it. It's not simple.

this game had to potential to be the best..but in no way is even close to being the best of anything..and untill they stop catering the the crybabies it never will be

Agreed....but which cry babies do you refer to? Posted Image Seems like no matter the issue here in MWO there are cry babies on the left, cry babies on the right, cry babies in the front and cry babies in the back. And they ALL complain when they dont get their way.

When a hit registers to exposed internals there is a base 25% chance to apply a crit. This is at +15% damage, but also to a crit location.

Targeting computers increase this base %.

If the total damage on a location exceeds it's health it is destroyed

Destroyed ammo explodes

In the case of non cased ammo on IS mechs 50% of the damage is transferred to the connecting locations.

Gauss rifles if destroyed cause 20 damage, yet the ammo is inert.

Engines appear uncritable, but SHOULD be an auto kill if 3 crit locations are destroyed. I believe there is broken code here, at least on CLAMS

I just woke up so my logical processing has taken 3 crits, did I miss anything here?

Yes you are missing a lot there man and a good amount is wrong too. Wait for McGral's answer if you want a detailed breakdown of the crit system.
