First of all, I have to say, I'm seeing a lot of positive stuff going on after this patch. Specifically, I'm seeing a lot of people trying out new builds. I'm seeing Stalkers actually combine missiles and lasers, like they did in BT lore, for the first time since 2013. I'm seeing people use AC2s, AC5s and AC10s. I'm seeing Griffins and Centurions and Kintaros armed with SRMs again.

But I just had a few matches with my carry-harder laservomit mechs (Nova, Warhawk, Black Knight), and... well, I still got higher scores than with any other mech that I've tried out (except for my 4xLRM15+A Awesome, which is still going strong).

I'm kind of wondering if, when the dust settles and everyone's had a bit of fun with their 2xAC2 Cicadas, 3xAC5 Marauders and SRM Catapults... is good old fashioned laservomit still going to dominate until PGI finds a replacement for ghost range? "Now with 90% less gauss rifles"?

For every laser vomit mechs that got nerfed this patch, just as many laser vomit mechs were buffed. So in the end there is no change to the laser vomit meta. Posted Image

Gauss vomit has been nerfed a bit, but dual Gauss Whale is just as scary as before. I am gonna have some fun with 6xCUAC2 Whale though.

lazorvomit lives on strong, though there does seem to be more ppc in it, not sure if thats just marauder related though.

They nerfed the only other weapon that was on par with laser vomit.. so I'm not sure why this is even a question.

You're just seeing people try out all the 'new' stuff to see what changed.

It'll all settle down in a week and you'll see what the new meta is.

Lasers in IS side still are stronger than the rest of weapons, especially after many Mechs have massiv Laser quirks and weapon like the Gauss go a incredibly silly nerf. The rebalancing did nothing to break Laser meta, it just moved them to other Mechs.

No way. In some cases stronger then ever. Here, I did the homework for you all.

Post patch is the top image. (on Edit) slight error on Thunderwub. Alpha heat with ghost is 38% on Caustic.

From what I can see, vomit will still reign supreme, just on mechs which got favorable energy quirks. Though the gap between vomit and everything else should have atleast been narrowed?

Vomit will always reign supreme as long as everything hits a pixel.

But hey, I had to switch out lights and mediums...thats progress right? (but wait I switched them out with "The quirkening" now im switching again? Meta upheaval is "balance" right?)

Will it be a new meta tho? :P

Well many ppl on here whined endlessly about the proposed lock-on laser change so you're getting the meta you apparently wanted. Enjoy.

But in general PGI did a good job in this patch. I have the feeling mechs stay longer on the battlefield, with the new heatcap IS and Clan seem to be closer to eachother. The slowdown makes mechs more big and stompy.

Lasors still are viable but no matter what...looks good so far.

To be fair we didnt whine that lasers took time to 'converge' and do maximum damage, we whined that it was arbitrarily linked to hitting "R".

Instead of delaying the Play Test until they could fix that, they scrapped infotech till "later" and pushed forward a requirk and minor stat changes. along with a mastery nerf.

Which of course we pointed out was OP forever ago, and pointed out it was linked to the 3 chassis dealie, and instead of fixing that, they just nerfed your bonuses, making it even more annoying to master mechs (since you dont get as much benefit at the end of the grind).

Most of what you see now I think is just testing out the changes and new mechs or mechs that were buffed.

Srms are definitely good now though, and gauss is probably out. So there will be changes.

This argument is flawed on so many levels.

Here's an otter for your trouble.

I like it. Gauss is a very heavy waepon and the cooldown nerf gives a feeling of this.

I played my direstar yesterday and its a 100 tons of awesome.

I wish, but lasers are the least nerfed weapon we have.
