Sorry, but as much as I like MWO, this Community Warfare tournament sucks. I have played about 6 Comm Warfare games this weekend for this tournament. Each game my team were against a 10-12 man team. Whilst my team were mostly always PUGS. The best we had was a 4 man group. Totally rolled each time. Regardless of if we were attacking/defending. I really really hope going to Steam quadruples the number of players, otherwise Comm Warfare will be forever unobtainable for a PUG.

Thought of skipping the event, saw the 500 mc.

Thought of scoring 1500 for that 500 mc, completed the event instead.

Anyways, as before (just like all cw events) so many IS and not enough Clans. Am pretty sure nobody wanted to play Clans because the mechs are weaker than IS.

Reason? Quirks.

That must be why the Clans are whining. Winning. I meant "winning."

This. I unloaded 40 rounds of uAC/5 and of AC/2, and several large laser shots, into the CT of a TBR on Vitric last night, dead center mass at point-blank range, and did over 300 points of damage, while a unit member was hammering him in the back with ER PPCs, and he went from yellow to orange before he got me and my teammate finally got him. Say what? Clans are still pretty darn hardcore.

That was a problem of hit reg, not the timber LOLOLOL
i so much wish my timbers could withstand that amount of damage LOL

I play IS because :
 • I have no clan mech
 • I don't like clans lore
 • I want to play a Locust
 • I want to play a Marauder

Voila!!!

theyre winning because some of the comp teams actually went to clan side to get DROPS!!!!
Imagine if they were still in IS? And there were enough clan teams / players so everyone could get drops? IS and specially those teams would STOMP over the clans!
Anyway, im switching to IS, since im tired of loosing and geting nerfed

You clan guys are incredible...You have had completely OP mechs for over 2 years and now that things are closer to being balanced your whinnnnnning and crying on the forums about how bad things are....
1) You can still fire a higher Alpha
2) Your DPS is still slightly higher
3) You still have the advantage in distance if you outfit your mech right

I do agree with one thing tho...I believe the balance is close enough that no major nerfs are warranted....Have enjoyed the fights over the first couple of days...And Clans your probably gonna win the overall fight anyways so quite freaking WHINING

The problem is, you cannot speak of "IS can do this and Clans can do that" anymore. Range advantage for Clans is gone when the IS picks several special chassis with nice bonusses on range. Same to dps. And while a BJ1X outperforms way heavier chassis, a Summoner still kinda sucks compared to what other Clan chassis are capable of. So we do not only have a imbalance between Clans and IS, but between the chassis. And as long as this is not solved there will never be a truly working balance between the factions because it all depends on which chassis you take.

And i think THAT is what bothers most Clanners: they are constantly reminded at all the advantages they have like range and dps and then they look at some specific IS-Mechs and think "wait, what? We are getting nerfed because we have better equipment, but this IS-Mech has more range and more dps? Why do my Mechs get nerfed, then?!?"

Additionally, getting more and more IS-Merchs to Clan-level-performances, is lowering the ttk even more. So we need global Clan-nerfs concerning their weapons (lower damage and range then now, only slightly better then IS-tech, not 2-3 times better like in the start) and IS has to get rid of their quirks. Atleast most of them, some can stay for the special feeling of specialized Mechs (like no ghost heat for the 3rd PPC on an Awesome and stuff like that). And thenrework some other weapons, too, to give IS more variety and choices (e.g.: the PPC needs to get rid of its minimum range just like AC/5 and Gauss have lost theirs).

But nonetheless: the outcome of this battle does not really say anything about balancing but about the organization of the different factions. The Clanners seem to can manage to run big premades quite constantly while the IS has a lot of pugs and their premades have to wait much longer to get a drop (and therefore dropping fewer then Clan-premades). And it's about activity all the way, if you have to live a life during this event you might be too short of time to really achieve great things for your faction/unit, while really big units can divide the "work" on much more shoulders.

So was the event extended?

It is 14:21 US Central Time and I am looking at 4d 20h 40m on the attack phase.

Well, to be honest: 3 days is about 2,5 days too long for such an event as it will be decided in the last ours just like last time. Nonetheless i LOVE this kind of event, being part of a big battle, trying to make a difference. But most of it is "fake" because it will be decided solely on monday.

But PGI has to think about other possibilities of matchmaking because the waiting times on IS-side are not fun at all. Last time we were Clan and had almost instant drops, now we are losing groupmembers in drops because of the long waiting times of 30 minutes and more and thanks to that it will all start from the end of the waiting queue again...

For IS and their waiting time, three days are not enough if you don't want to play 24/7.

Please extend the event.

Extending the event until way past the breaking point of every competitive unit is unfair to those who are fighting a winning battle. Ghost drops are already massively distorting the outcome of the event. This will get only worse if the event is needlessly extended.

If you are good, you can easily make the points for top reward in a few matches only. Most guys in our unit got through the first evening and those who were not caught up 2-3 matches into the next day.

it is not worth a dime if it is just extended until everyone had a chance to snail through it. Then you could call it the Battle of Tukayyid Campaign Community Warfare Endurance Contest, Carebear and Casual Optimized.

Well, as it might be true that the event is achievable in only a couple of matches it is also true that as IS you only get a couple of matches. I am "playing" since nearly 2 hours this evening and had 1 drop so far. Just a few minutes ago our group has waited through from position ~30 in the waiting line into the 10s and then the game crashed (not the first time during this event). So it could be reeally, really hard to simply get these few good games...

That's proabably part of the problem those who stuck to clan are still less numerous than those on the IS and who left to it causing an even LONGer wait time. PGI Cannot balance anything off of this or the last Tukkyiad event, if they are their doing it wrong.

18 Clan que to 41 IS yeah, PGI stacked the odds just so they could nerf us more.

First problem of MWO is not sticking with source material, second is lack of balance in match making, a team of 12 organized players versus 12 puggers is hardly balanced.

the team at PGI try to balance the game with weird solutions and just doing it wrong, at this rate we will end up with HAWKEN, that is some thing I really don't want.

CW at this moment doesn't give any real gratification, Russ should really drop the dream of making MWO a ESport, he should just concentrate on making the game as a true Mechwarrior experience, at this moment it is not sadly.

Yes, putting so much focus into making the Quick Match game "easily accessible" and FACTION PLAY into an esport is ruining this game. When you focus and balance around "professional" gamers and "noobs" then the rest of us suffer.

Anyone feel like this might be a way for PGI to test Clan vs. IS balance? (And a good one, depending on how many compete.)

No, a patently idiotic one in light of the fact the the Clans can only attack, the IS can only defend and that this alone makes the data from this even completely useless.
