Please, for the love of everything good and stompy, consider implementing a "regional pricing structure" across the board.

A little tip: If you want to play MWO through steam in the future, add your MWO folder to steam library folders and when you are installing MWO, choose to install to that folder. This way steam will check for existing content and see that MWO already exists and you will have to download a whole lot less.

One question about our configs,Is it possible and which files would we have to copy to transfer our weapongroups and keyboard/graphic and sensitivity settings over to the steam installation?

I live in germany and I guess I stick with the mwomercs page because german prices seem to be usually higher.

Some people seam to think MWO is going to be steam only .
All of us that play MWO now , nothing is going to change .
Going to be the same for us right now to load and play as its is going to be in under 2 days time when its released on steam . Should be nice to see some more people playing when its released on steam Posted Image .

after years of updates and repair tooling, a fresh install probably isn't a bad idea. also steam is fussy about its file integrity so it might just choose to overwrite everything anyway

I've been playing through the regular MWO client.. so tell me, WHY should I switch to a Steam Client? SHOULD I even do that?

What are the benefits of the Steam Client vs. the Regular client?

Is there anything better about using the Steam client Vs. the regular client?

I really don't want to spend a few hours waiting to re-install the game if there are no real benefits.

Nein, du kannst (vorerst) MWO genauso weiterspielen wie bisher.

On the general matter of Steam launch:
Good luck PGI, you will need it.

The only benefit I can think of right now is that most people have Steam set to auto-launch alongside windows, thus instantly patching MWO as well (you can prioritize this). That way, when you come home from work and turn on you PC, you don't have to manually start the upgrade.

I'll be switching to the steam client, so that when I play it'll pop up on friends' screens that the game exists and the statistics tool in steam that people look at might have MWO on there. I don't play much, but hey, it might help visibility a tiny amount.

To be able to retain our present installs and not be forced into Steam is a great relief. Thanks for that.

However, logging in to MWO through Steam and making changes to your MWO settings or weapon groups will commit those changes to your shared MWO profile data.

As I alternate between playing MWO on my desktop computer and laptop, having all my weapon group changes carry over between these computers would be reason enough for me to switch to the Steam MWO client! This is a feature I've been wanting for a long time now!

However, regarding settings carrying over: Does this mean that, for instance, all graphics settings will also carry over by default? While my desktop computer can easily run the game at (Very) High, my laptop can only manage Medium. Would I have to reset the graphics every time I switch between computers? Or would I have to adjust all settings to the lowest common denominator? That would only replace one issue with a larger one for me...

Question:
Will the game update itself via steam or do i still have to start the launcher to update it?
Automatic updates via steam are pretty sweet.

I think it will work like some other games on Steam (War Thunder, Warframe, etc) where you "launch" the game from steam, but it then opens the individual launcher and downloads the patches from there.

I don't think it will be doing the automatic updates everyone thinks it will.

Part of what I like about MWO is that my teammates and the enemy command my full attention. Personally, I find any chitchatting with outside friends while serving my team an unwelcome distraction which could cause disservice to my team.

I wouldn't be too sure about this. If the launcher still opens up when you open the game, there's a good chance Steam will not automatically update the game. Planetside 2 does not allow Steam to update it because it runs it's own launcher, along with a myriad of other F2P games.

On a side note PGI, now that MechWarrior's first title is coming to Steam, do you reckon anything can be done about the lack of MechWarrior 2/3/4 and/or MechCommander? It's a shame so many people haven't played these masterpieces and getting hold of working copies of 3 and 4 is still quite a chore these days even for fans.
