On a side note PGI, now that MechWarrior's first title is coming to Steam, do you reckon anything can be done about the lack of MechWarrior 2/3/4 and/or MechCommander? It's a shame so many people haven't played these masterpieces and getting hold of working copies of 3 and 4 is still quite a chore these days even for fans.

Mechcommander 1/1x and 2 are open source and can be found via google
and as far as i can remember, mechwarrior4 is for free as well by now

I am wondering how much integration there is between MWO social tab and Steam friends list.

The guys that had licence to distribute MW4 for free, MekTek I believe, had to stop and/or have disappeared. So trying to get a free version of MW4 involves some digging around.

Either way, releasing them on Steam would open the franchise up to a wider audience, perhaps even improve visibility for MWO, and remove the hassle of both finding a copy and the hard task of actually getting it to work properly (especially 3)

As I alternate between playing MWO on my desktop computer and laptop, having all my weapon group changes carry over between these computers would be reason enough for me to switch to the Steam MWO client! This is a feature I've been wanting for a long time now!

However, regarding settings carrying over: Does this mean that, for instance, all graphics settings will also carry over by default? While my desktop computer can easily run the game at (Very) High, my laptop can only manage Medium. Would I have to reset the graphics every time I switch between computers? Or would I have to adjust all settings to the lowest common denominator? That would only replace one issue with a larger one for me...

not necessarily, this would only happen if those data are stored in the steam cloud. And I am not so sure if it is.

I wouldn't be too sure about this. If the launcher still opens up when you open the game, there's a good chance Steam will not automatically update the game. Planetside 2 does not allow Steam to update it because it runs it's own launcher, along with a myriad of other F2P games.

On a side note PGI, now that MechWarrior's first title is coming to Steam, do you reckon anything can be done about the lack of MechWarrior 2/3/4 and/or MechCommander? remakign these games with the MWO mechs and graphics would be sooo nice.

If this is the case I will be one happy camper! Posted Image Hopefully we can get an official reply from PGI on what's what regarding this issue.

Steam?? Bad news.. I see it now.. New faction Clan Bro and snoop dogg warhorns...

I guess PGI will get rid of the heat mechanic too since it's too hard on casuals. Also the torso/leg movement. And also add call of duty to the title..

I kid of course, mostly there will be lots of fresh recruits to wipe the floor with Posted Image

last i recall their so called acrhon took her grandmothers name to hide her true name broke up fedcom, started the Fed-com civil war and was utterly a idoit? Meanwhile the Crusader clans were pushing towards terra again? Why trust people who follow an idiot Like Kathrine?

Oh and did i mention she called her brother Victor Steiner-Davion a traitor while he was away fighting the clans?

http://www.sarna.net..._Steiner-Davion

little note here.... SHE called for the assasination of her mother....blaming it on Victor.

overall she's a despicable witch and by clan standards she's a blasted Dishonorable politician who should be cleaning latrines.

Yes, you'll be able to continue running MWO as normal.

Oh, so all the steam launch changes, software-wise is that I can now choose to launch the client via Steam OR I can keep using the same client I always have. Is that right?

If so, how a question added to the FAQ to the effect of,

"Q: Do I need to download and install the client from Steam?
A: No, you can continue to use the regular client that you use today."

I would suppose that, at some point, it will be Steam or nothing but MWO is the only Steam game that I'll be playing so if I can avoid dealing with my Steam account for a while, I will, at least until it's convenient to make the switch.

Are Steam achievements identical to the existing MWO achievments ?? (e.g. like Shredder for 10000 comp. destructions)

Or are they completely different ?

I guess if there are no auto updates for the steam version then there is no point in using it for me.

So I'm excited for the Steam release as it is hopeful to expand the community... what I'm saddened by is all the damned negative threads already found on the MWO Steam Discussions: http://steamcommunit...00/discussions/

Hopefully there will be a lot of new players joining our ranks. It is important to remember what a steep learning curve mwo is. Try to stay classy mwo community and support the incoming pilots.

Hopefully, though without the tools and support from PGI we're going to lose over half of them to attrition, Pre-made stomps and the steep learning curve. We've been pushing to volunteer and help the new recruits, but PGI isn't interested in us volunteering.

Since the game has been a disappointment to many, warranted or not, some bad reviews are to be expected. There is not much of that on this forums anymore as all critizism has long been either moderated or swamped out by white knights and fanboys. Not to the better of the game, I feel.

So what you see on Steam is a mix of disappointed fans and some folks giving their honest opinion. That may be a little abrasive at times.

My guess, anyone who wants to play MWO already does. But who knows, some folks may want to give it another try.

Yeah, and I've been playing since Day 1... yes, there have been some disappointing moments in MWO... maybe my love for everything BattleTech has me blinded but it's something that has kept my *** out of trouble since 1995... so I continue to show my support of those who bring that universe to me. I just lose a little faith in humanity every time I see some ******* troll who's nothing more than a negative nancy.
