I live in germany and I guess I stick with the mwomercs page because german prices seem to be usually higher.

Yep, germany here, too and the exchange rate generally favors us here, so I'll stick to the main page.

Also like other people said before: There REALLY should be actual ingame screenshots on the steam page. This is a thing that annoys me a lot and often stops me from trying/buing a game.
I need to see how a game will look when I'm actually playing it to buy/try it, not dozens of screenshots showing of the nice graphics and lighting!

Will the game code be more optimized? Settings in user directory still kept after we uninstall the standalone client?

I'll try to knock out the other questions that have come up since yesterday. Original post has been updated with most of these as well.

Uninstalling the standalone MWO client should keep your \Saved Games\MechWarrior Online profile data intact for Steam to use. We have tested this on Windows 7 and Windows 10.

I haven't had time to test the manual migration of standalone install data into Steam yet, but as some players have already mentioned it might be hit-or-miss on whether it succeeds. I realize people need to deal with data caps, but whenever possible I strongly recommend clean installs. Trying the migration won't necessarily damage or hurt anything, but if you run into issues after performing a manual migration our tech support services will end up requesting that you perform a clean install.

You can point your Steam MWO install to a hard drive of your choice, so you can choose to run MWO on your SSD with the rest of your library on your HDD if desired (or vice versa).

We will be adding gameplay (cockpit) screenshots to the Steam Store page this evening.

I can't speak to the future expansion of regional pricing for other items.

Game settings and weapon groups are saved locally, so switching to your laptop won't carry over the video settings from your desktop.

If you end up using Steam you will never see the MWO patcher/launcher again. Steam will handle patches, and hitting Play in Steam will send you right into the game.

u can use standart site for this.

I'm sorry, I don't really understand why you quoted me on this. I've bought every pack thus far with the exception of the Urbie, I hold no hate for this game at all.

The fact is, two years ago the USD and CAD were about equal, so when I bought a mech pack for $80 I got the same value as people in the continental US. Now, when I buy an $80 USD mech pack I pay $108 CAD, which is over 30% more than it used to be.

The thing is my salary hasn't jumped up by 30% and so buying mech packs or MC is a significantly lower value proposition. I just am not getting my money's worth, which makes buying anything further a full-stop for me. Imagine if they bumped up their pricing structure by 30% across the board, many people in the US would stop paying, yeah? That's why regional pricing exists in the first place. Not every country is economically parallel to the US and if you assume the same economics of value you price yourself out of the market in a ton of places.

Well since you live in canada there's a simple solution , though maybe more expensive than buying a mech pack.

Move to the USA

Complain to PGI about it their suppose to be based in Canada.

Cool story, brah. Or brahdette I guess. Thanks for being so extremely helpful, I'll make sure to come right to you next time I have a question about economics.

Keep doing the big work!

Good thing about the video settings, but bummer regarding weapon groups... Posted Image If I may make a feature request for the future it would be that weapon groups should carry over - or at least that there is an option for them to carry over - between computers.

Nice!!!

Would simply making a copy of all the files in the users profile to another PC carry stuff over fine?

The guys that had licence to distribute MW4 for free, MekTek I believe, had to stop and/or have disappeared. So trying to get a free version of MW4 involves some digging around.

Either way, releasing them on Steam would open the franchise up to a wider audience, perhaps even improve visibility for MWO, and remove the hassle of both finding a copy and the hard task of actually getting it to work properly (especially 3)

I have that MW4 release, and a while ago I did try to get it working under win8/10 but it just would not work. I managed to get as far as the mechbay, but loading into missions crashed it.

*edit*

Also, as for steam i'll be using that client because I want all my steam friends to see me playing MWO (it has that handy spectator function for steam friends) so hopefully that will garner some interest through social networking etc.

Are kidding me bro? I seriously hope you aren't Seraphim still.

All over steam and now here trolling and whining?

That's not how we get down bro.

That man had a legit issue that's real life based, and your comment was not meant to do anything but incense people.

Sorry bro but if you are gonna act a fool in public I gotta call you out in the same arena.

It leaves a bad mark on our unit as a whole weather you are or are not a member still.

If you are mad I understand but his hand didn't call for that, and you owe that man an apology.

Well if you see helpless newbies the best way is to explain them whta they should properly prepare before coming to CW again.

I look forward to the steam invasion. PUGs will be PUGs but they will get filtered by CW and tier mechanics. I have been saying my wallet is on hold for about 3 months now due to changes coming and wanting to see them. Well I like what I have seen. Granted some changes might still be nice like info tech, but it is now open. To bad sales just past otherwise I might have picked up some MC for the extra 20% on black fri/mon. Keep up on improving things and you will have a customer.
