I just finished a match where I was attacking a DC'd Marauder. I decided to find the head to get a head shot, but discovered that the entire cockpick area glass does not register any hits. I was 20m away with 3 med lasers. I shot the same spot several times and no red reticle, no paper doll change and no damage. It should at least register CT.

so your first thought is that the hitboxes are messed up?

Hitboxes on Mad are fine.

DC'd

There's your problem.
DC'ed mechs are often "displaced" and the visual model does not correlate with the mechs' hitboxes.

@Sandpit, Yes, my first thought is something is wrong when I shoot something several times and it does not register.

@Juodas, why would only the Cockpit not register correctly when every where else did?

I didn't say "something wrong", I said you specifically thought it was hitboxes. It's not the boxes.

@ Sandpit, What you said still does not change my mind that yes my first thought is something was wrong. I though hit box, because the other hit boxes registered when I shot at them.

I never said you didn't experience "something wrong", I simply stated it wasn't the hitboxes :)

Well, if the hitbox does not register, what is it?

you were given one example above
server lag
client lag
ISP hiccup
Modem hiccup
The reticle just not registering if if the hits do (I've personally experienced this one many times)

That's 5 quick examples of what could have been the issue off the top of my head Posted Image

if you are like 20m away, ist enarly all the time mostlikely that your lasers cross other hitboxes soaking up the damage first. especially when your lasers are not near your cockpit.

Biggest reason I can thing of, just like when you shoot at a mech you have a LOS on but it hits a rock off to the side because it was in the way of the path between your hardpoint and the mech even though it wasn't in your way visually.

one idea: 20m away could also mean that your lasers, if they are in arms, cant converge onto the head from such a near distance Posted Image

those are also 5 very likely explanations. All of which have nothing to do with Hitboxes or the Mad :)

I have several videos of me shooting shut down or stationery mechs at very close ranges with lasers,ACs, etc, and the damage does not register to their cockpit at all, even though i can see the shots hitting the glass...its not just the marauder.

I've run into problems where disconnected mechs won't take head damage, but at other times disconnects did take head damage. It doesn't seem consistent.

As someone who is really tanking my KDR in me MAD collection I assure you the hitboxes are just fine, the head component takes damage just fine, and anyone having a hard time killing one is just bad.

The only problem with the Marauder hitboxes is that they register hits at all. The Marauder is the One True Robbit. He should be above such petty concerns as hit detection.

The Artic Cheebah is more about the perfect stomp of cspls, cXL, great hitboxes (arms have a bigger space when moving. Scrow does the same thing) and mediocre hitreg on fast lights.

The Marauder just deserves to ignore most damage, because it is sexy and amazing and everyone who u bought the MAD are fundamentally better people than those who didn't.
