Assuming, of course, there will be no respawn durring a match, what should happen after death? I love going into spectate mode and watching everyone else duke it out, but how do you keep people from ghosting?

With 3rd party programs like Vent and TeamSpeak, you can ealy have someone relaying enemy positions to you while there in spectate mode. It seems that the devs are working hard to make the game tactical and this seems like a way to ruin it.

Perhase spectate mode should only allow you to look through the eyes of players on your team, so you don't see anymore than the players would.

It's too bad we can't rely on everyone being honest. What are your thoughts?

I would assume you could do a few things. You could spectate a team-mate after your mech has been crippled. What I would argue about ghosting is that you just ejected, you are still alive so I see no reason why TS and Vent would not represent com links. If you keep it so they can only spec allies, and maybe lock them into the first person mode too (as you suggested), then this should be fine in my books.

I know that they have stated that there will be no running around outside of the mech. but I think that if you eject successfully, or your mech is crippled but your not dead, you should be able to move around once your outside the mech. This would allow you to still be a part of the battle, relaying what you can see back to your commander.

Just watch out for someone trying to step on you.

I just feel that if you are killed your spectate veiw should be restricted so there is no chance of ruining the other teams ambush by ghosting.

That question has plagued theologians for ages.

I agree that if there is a spectator mode it should be restricted to teammates views. Also, possibly a map view that shows the map plus teammates' positions?

Upon death a list of the remaining friendly mechs appears and you choose from which one you will spectate from, like riding in the passenger's seat(if there was one). This in lieu of bouncing from mech to mech. In bouncing it allows a more advanced player to "help" persay being another set of eyes, corordinator etc, whereas choosing 1 mech locks them down in a way until that mech is also out of combat, and the cycle happens all over again - my 2 Cents

Honestly, if your drop commander, or Command & Staff, has authorized a certain amount of tonnage, or certain chassis', if that's how our hosts are going to build this game, and you're not out of available chassis, yet, you should be able to reappear at a 'Mech hangar or DropShip or field base, get into your next 'Mech, and get to the battlefield... but not instantly... it should be between two and five kilometers before you reach the edge of the battlefield.

Otherwise, once you're out of tonnage or chassis, that's it for you... game over.

What happens after death? Nobody knows. :P
Some say you will turn into an animal, some say you will go to heaven/hell, it's up to you to choose. ^_^

On the topic. If you die, you're forced to leave the match, if not, however, then you should be able to help team mates in some way.

I do not like the idea of being booted from the match after death, but I do admit it solves the problem. Personally I would prefer being looked into another mechs veiw.

Pff - learn to hold yer drink, man

On topic, I would think that it depends on the game mode... Most, I would imagine, would just have you spectating your teammates. However, I'm guessing a few could have you respawn at your unit's original starting position. If you are spectating, there should only be either all-talk enabled, or (better option) you should only have a first-person viewpoint of the friendly 'Mech in order to prevent ghosting

AYE! Spectate view please. I want to see the mech who killed me EXPLODE!! (hopefully)
Interesting idea but I don't like idea of talk being enabled when 'death' has occurred.

Or simply put you ride shoulder with any team member you want, only being able to see what they can see thus preventing you from giving tactical data away when you are "dead"

I think I'd just rather make the 'Mech explode while I'm there and not get killed for my trouble, hehe.

Assuming no respawns, I'd want to jump off and join another match.

If I'd have to sit and watch every match to completion, especially if the matches are long, I don't know if I'd play the game very often.

From what i can tell the implementation will be very similar to WoT (which i have played a lot of lately lol) i figure death will be similar. You will be either attached to your destroyed machine and unable to detect enemies or bounce between living machines and see what they have detected. You might be able to aid by bringing your mates attention to new contacts but are unable to scout them yourself.
