Polygon is nice, and it's really better when you use only 2 colour.

Ok... it's not the camo most people would have as their first choice.

Indeed. And it gives credence to that against those who want to promote it as simply another plain jane vanilla shooter.

So why, oh why PGI did you decide to put the SRM 4s of the Wolfs Dragoons variant of the Archer. The ARC-5W, in the arms. You should have thrown everyone for a loop and stuck with the lore on this one. Put those SRMs where they belong, in the legs!

This thing is tickling my fancy in new exciting ways, now if they just revamped the targeting mechanics/ECM into a less digital all or nothing form things would get much more interesting.

While I really do like the looks of the Archer, I am not a big lrm fan. So I am thinking of saving my MC for the hero on sale and then grab two CBill variants later after they have been tested. Who knows maybe by then they will have streak 4s or 6s for IS by then.

The major reason why I would want an Archer is if they had melee in the game because those fist look like they would rip some mechs apart if not just blast a fist straight through them.

Oh, how I would love melee attacks. The Archer as a 70 tonner would be inflicting 7 point punches and 14 point kicks! And the Atlas would be an unholy terror to the legs of anything getting close to it. 20 point kicks! :)

Hmm, an ECM hero? no normally i would have a problem with it but since there is a bit of lore justification about the spooky scary phantom Archer that may have carried a lostech ECM, i would let it slide.

Now, i am honestly surprised that there are only 2 missile hardpoints tops per section, and the ARC-2R has only 3 missile hardpoints. surprisingly low for a missile carrier. i was actually excepting it to have 3 missile hardpoints on both torsos. but it has 6 energy hardpoints total.

The ARC-5S pretty much is the bridge between ARC-5W that trades an energy hardpoint for a missile one. seems pretty good. being able to pack SRM's on the arms, lasers while still having LRM's.
Honestly i expected the ARC-2K and that has only 2 missile hardpoints, and 6 energy hardpoints by moving the CT ones to the arms.

the ARC-5W, i expected this to happen and also:

I can see myself buying the standard package with the hero add on. they all look solid. also supplementing the Catapult but not fully replacing it.

Bought mine. It won't probably be an outstanding mech due to its shape (and related hitboxes), but I don't know why I find it quite nice and cool.

Can't wait to try it!

Heh, if compact engines(lol heavier for the same size yeah people will so take that) or compact gyros(more likely to happen tbh for 1-3 tons weight) do get implemented, those 3+ ct hard point units will be a much bigger deal.

A compact engine/gyro would immediately shoot this chassis up the charts, if only because you've got an incredibly beautiful high mount for dual heavy energy weapon mounts that centerline with the cockpit, and that'd give it the open critspaces to pull it off.

(For that matter, compact gyros would fix a certain Spider as well, since it'd be able to pull off a big CT gun at last.)

You'd have to add a third crosshair to the HUD for a leg-mounted weapon system.

My only sadness is that Russ even Tweeted that the Warhammer hadn't started its ingame testing yet... I don't expect to see the Archer til at least Q2 2016.

Which is sad, cause its the only one I want out of the 4. T-T Why do you have to torture us so Russ? Best mech last I guess...

Ah...it was updated since I last looked, and that was maybe a couple days ago at most. It didn't even have a FAQ before.

Still...3 months...so faaaaar.

Dunno but I'm looking forward to the ECM change and the mech profile mechanic. I assume that's what they're waiting for before changing the ECM.

I imagine because the Champion isn't an Unseen, and that's what Dustdog was probably talking about when he was saying Crusader is the next one. Personally I hope the next Unseen we get is the Phoenix Hawk. The Crusader is a heavy just like the Marauder, Warhammer, Rifleman and Archer. Would be nice with a little break from the heavies, and the 45 ton Phoenix Hawk would fit the bill perfectly for that.

Also, it's a Phoenix Hawk and Phoenix Hawks are inherently superior to all other mechs no matter what their actual usefulness in MWO may or may not be. This is the result of being a Phoenix Hawk. Yes, I'm biased.

Forgive me if this has already been addressed, but is it just me or has the specs for the Tempest been changed? I could have sworn when the Archer was first announced the specs listed 8 missile hard points and now I only see 3 on it. Am I on crack or did they change it?

The Tempest never had that many, however, there is another variant there with 9 missile hardpoints.
