Until you (or someone) prove to me that this is going to be a premier comp tier heavy and that no free heavy mech is going to be able to compete with this ECM Archer, then I really don't think there is much of an argument for P2W. ECM alone does not make a mech great, especially when you can take other free heavy mechs with ECM.

Chill out bud, wasn't talking about you in particular, that's why I said "(or someone)". After reading people on steam discussions complaining about how it is P2W because other Archers don't have ECM, I was pre-emptively getting my arguments out here, your post happened to catalyze it in this thread.

Well if you want an ECM Heavy really badly you can have the Hellbringer which is a good mech, I would see it on par with EBJ perhaps a bit below Timby. Or the Phract 0XP which is not great but still formidable.

Hm Clan ECM Assault? Just give my Warhawks an ECM variant kthx

Well there is lore to support a Clan Assault mech with ECM, it was used by Vlad Ward of Clan Wolf...

I like the Hellbringer more than the Timber Wolf. Does that make me weird? I don't think so.

Also a Cataphract with ECM, IS has plenty of completely free ECM mechs, with at least one you can buy with c-bills right now in each weight class. Mediums and Lights have the most.

I don't think the ECM is an issue at all. I haven't kept track of statistics, but it seems like 50% of the pug matches I'm in, one or both team is without ECM mechs. And in most matches with ECM, the ECM mechs play a fairly minor role, because you have to be within 90 meters to share the bubble, and people don't have time for that.

Maybe it's an issue on the comp scene, I don't know. I have a feeling the comp players won't be interested in the Archer anyway. Why people are comparing it to the Hellbringer, I don't know. Its only high mounted energy hardpoints are in the CT, so you can either go 2ML or 1LL. Either way, it won't be very good at laser sniping, and with only 6 energy hardpoints and no good energy quirks (ECM mechs don't get good quirks), it won't be as good as the Thunderbolt for brawling anyway.

I don't think P2W will be an issue, at least not for 99.9% of the population.
