First of all , i understand that providing content and holding the perfomance and/or stability of a game doesnt always work out. But i feel that there is a desperate need for perfomance improvements in MW:O.

Maybe hold back a content patch for a week or two but push the Performance up as high as it can get, seeing my decent rig dwindel at MW:O on lowest setting possible is far from optimal in my opinion.

To sum up my thoughts: The smoother the gaming experience the more likely it is for someone to stay and play , pls put some more affort in the performance PGI - I do not doubt you guys are trying to make MW:O a great game but i feel we need some better fps across the board before getting more mechs.

If anyone has thoughts on that matter pls speak up ^^

ive been here since closed beta, i purchased a computer specifically for this game and i could run it on max with 40+ fps, that same computer even after a fresh factory reset only gets about 10+ fps on average...so i purchased a second computer, more then meets the recommended requirements and although it doesn't drop below 20 fps it should be much higher concidering i can play much newer graphic intense games on high with no problems

I never dip below 50FPS really and thats running maximum settings with MSAA.

The moments where i do get a dip i see GPU usage go down and CPU usage go up.

I have my CPU overclocked a fair bit so i can see people having less CPU power are dipping lower and more often in frames.

It shouldnt be but you see this behaviour in many online multiplayer games.

PGI is mostly an art shop. Don't expect much from them in terms of actual engineering.

You all need to upgrade. My system (i5-2300, GeForce 750ti) runs 50s in FPS at highest game res on Medium, and this isn't exactly an expensive build.

I don't feel it's a big issue, personally.

Mind you, when I started playing MWO in 2012, my computer was a mid-tier gaming rig from 2008. As long as I didn't use the new heat vision (predator vision worked fine), I could run the game fine on low graphics settings. Medium graphics was ok, except for CW. Then they had an optimization pass and the game started running even better, I could switch to medium graphics permanently, sometimes playing with high graphics.

Earlier this year, I bought a new mid-tier gaming rig. Nothing special. It never gets below 60 fps for MWO, I think.

Maybe they need to look at specific cards or drivers that have problems. People have been running this game fine for years.

When people are above the specifications set by PGI and the performance is still poor, yeah it is an issue dude.

This is going to happen more and more as more new players come to MWO from Steam with their Minimum and Recommended specs and run into issues which is going to give the game a bad rep for running like crap which it does on some systems, like mine, which is far far above the recommended specs and still sees dips below 30 FPS.

For it me it's been like this since 12v12 came out. Even had support tell me it was the game and I had to wait for optimization, that was more than a year ago and I've upgraded since then and reformatted the OS a time or two as well.

PGI has all but refused to do anything with serious optimization in MWO since I've been around.

Which content patch? .. Ah right, CW one year ago was one.
Otherwise PGI is sacrificing a lot of content on the altar of the moah-mechs-god.
MOAH-MECHS !!!

Post your specs and post what graphics levels you have set in game, otherwise we can only assume your computer is really a potato!

Here's my rig, that varies in FPS based on map, but generally averages over 70fps (some maps are better optimized getting over 100), though during combat it can drop much lower, like in the 30s or lower when getting fudged by LRMs and AC's all up in my viewscreen.

Win 10
16 GB RAM
Intel i5-3570k 3.4Ghz (overclocked at 4.5GHz)
AMD Radeon HD 7970

1080p
All settings on High
Except AntiAliasing, which is only set to POSTAA

Armored Warfare. Uses the same cryengine 3 as mwo..... armored warfare looks pretty sexy and plays alot smoother. So... what gives eh? Giving this game a good break. And investing some time into armored warfare... that game only had pvp and is newer then mwo....and now it has co op pve missions ontop of pvp. *scratches head*

Also for info purposes. I run.
AMD 9590 core
16gb ram
Windows 10
Gtx 980 sli and without sli. (Performs better without sli as there is no support for it as far as i know)
1080p res
Max settings on everything except shadows which is on medium.
Fps average from 35ish -60ish.
Brawling gets to 35ish.
Ranged combat around 50ish -60ish

The game should be optimized more to be able to have a larger player base.

Maybe they should just increase the specs then. I don't know, I don't have access to the important date, so I can't tell how much of a problem it is. I imagine PGI is look at two things when they decide:
  • What percentage of MWO players are running below an acceptable frame rate.
  • How much money are those players spending, relative to the players with a good framerate.

This game has performance problems.

My computer isn't great, but if it's one of the foggy levels, especially with thermal, everything bogs down like crazy.

i7 2.9gh
16gb
win10
gtx960
med settings with particles low, pp and aa off, dx11, 64 bit client

I can't run 1080 during combat, I have it a setting or two lower.

MSAA is an FPS killer...try a lower Antialiasing. Also the game is heavily CPU dependant not GPU dependent.

You should be getting waay better FPS than that. This is my setup and I get an average of about 65 FPS, peaks around 80 and dips to ~45 ish at the worst:

i5 2500k
8GB RAM
R9 290 4GB
Win7 64
2560x1440
Max settings except that AA is entirely off.

If you haven't done so already, turn off AA and see if that helps. Like the poster above me said, antialiasing is the absolute worst setting as far as performance goes, and with a high enough DPI it has basically no visual impact.

While I agree there are some tweaks to be made, your computer is not 'decent' if it isn't running MWO at 60fps minimum despite the lack of optimization.

Ultra Settings
Peak: 242fps
Minimum: 72fps
Consistent Range: 104-149fps

Intel 4790k (4.2 Ghz - Noctua NH-D14)
G.Skill Sniper 1866 16GB RAM
EVGA Nvidia GTX 980
Asus Z97 Mk. 1
Windows 7 Pro DX11 64bit
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD
EVGA 220-G2-0850-XR PSU

Anti-aliasing in MWO needs a solid kick in the pants, and those mech geometries are no small feat to refine rendering for.

The biggest issue is the fact PGI refused to update CryEngine for potoato computers to keep DX9, because CryTECH was dropping DX9 support.

.02 percent of steam has DX 9 video cards yet it's supported and probably holding back performance updates that CryEngine sends out to developers.

How will VR be supported with this dated engine and lack of upgrade?

This one is a ROG laptop. But it his better specs than my desktop, which ran this game much better. Idk. I asked for help on here and nothing was working. I'm pretty pissed at where this game is anyway.
