House Liao held its NAP with House Marik for years. It took an outside influence to break it, and even TCAF admits they were suckered by false promises. No one can prove that House Davion hired the mercenaries, but it sure looks suspicious, especially since the mercenaries claim Davion high command paid them for the job.

Now, House Davion is taking advantage of the dispute, opportunistically attacking House Liao planets and trying to persuade House Marik that they can be new best friends. I would applaud them for this masterful political move, except for one thing.

What makes House Davion terrible is they honestly believe that they are the good guys.

This is a game of realpolitik and giant robot combat.

There are no good guys and bad guys. There is only the constant warfare of the 31st Century, for which House Davion is largely responsible.

Goodguys are largely established by good hair care and personal hygiene and Davions are, universally, impeccable.

We are at war with Liao because somebody has to be. It's almost like a civic duty thing, if we don't fight Liao who will? Given our druthers we'd rather fight Kurita. We just can't fight them and Liao and Marik.

We're always on good terms with Marik, even when we're fighting. we don't want Marik. Never did. They have Steiner and sometimes Kurita, they won't get bored. Liao though, that's a broken relationship that just won't quit. Poor Liao, at the end of the day Davion is all you have. We're the Bobby to your Whitney.

The fact that it takes two houses to take on Liao is more entertaining than anything. It gives all their garbageposts this interesting air of desperation. Them being apparently unable to resist visit our subforum is all the proof we really need of this.

Wait until I'm in Liao. My Illiminaughty Overlords will have to hire additional drones to monitor all the conspiracy theories.

However, science can not be denied. There is solid data to support a recipe for excellent spicy Sesame Sichuan dipping sauce for the original Arbys Roast Beef located in the southern reaches of Liao space.

Someone has to take the plunge and do the field research.

[RP OFF]Look I'm a self professed Davion in Merc clothing, the 6 weeks I was in FedSuns space was glorious for a player who would spend every online minute playing Faction warfare. So all I can say is that whatever situation, political or contractual, that gets lots of players interested and playing in the Faction Warfare tab gets my vote.

There is and probably always will be a population and skill disparity amongst the Southern Houses (which goes where I will leave to personal museings) but at the end of the day it is all about the 'Mech on 'Mech action for me. The forum diplomacy has the effect of getting people interested, so keep it up :)

I kinda miss being down there :(

[RP ON]

Fear not freebirths, the Children of Kerensky will soon wash away your wayward "Houses" and reestablish the glory of the Star League.

(Did I say that right ;) )

Look at the results, then back at to who benefits most.

The instigator is obvious- Liao has always benefited from it's peaceful relations with the FWL.

I have been repeatedly recruited by never-until-now-seen merc units to attack Marik worlds. At least one was -paid- to do so, and it wasn't by a House regular unit.

The Federated Suns is attacking the FWL by proxy to keep us at bay, since they apparently can't do it themselves. After all, if your military can't handle the job, why not pay a few C-bills and exploit the system to destroy the alliance that you can't handle otherwise? Once there's enough provocation, Marik is fighting Liao for "fun" (which in the long run it isn't) and Davion gets to have their scavenging victories stomping on the few undistracted troops that remain.

Most units are now occupied on the Marik front, which outnumbers them. Sounds like the perfect arrangement for Davion and the worst possible one for Liao.

There is a different while Marik is currently being propped up by Mercs... (Same Davion Season 1)
Majority of Liao attack forces is made of Loyalist and Fanatics.....

Shin has his own narrative going on. Never mind him. He's one of those imperialist Liaos dreaming of a green south. Don't disturb his monologue.

I'm doing bacon research for great Arbys justice.

Unless I was a Maskirovka agent the whole time.
