"Mommy, don't leave me alone"
"Boys, I don't want to go this way, not yours" --later---you ******* got me killed [Random Rant]
"I am allowed to position my assault mech behind your light/medium mech. It is no fault that you couldn't back up and eat all those alphas. You are the light/medium mech who has to walk around me because I am slow"
"You light mech ******* killed me from behind. Lights are OP! Nerf them. And we want more speed and turnin like prima ballerinas (read: like heavy mechs)"

It's a story that never ceases to be relevant. Like treachery, lust for power or forbidden love between cousins.

dire wolf has locked engine. derpa derp derp.
what would fix this **** is if they added respawns to the game. the one-life gamemodes are the whole problem. they cause deathballing/nascaring/repetitive boring play. No one is willing to take risks or do anything differently because they only get one life. So the game ends up being repetitive and boring.
even world of tanks has respawns now because they realized one-life gamemodes cause huge problems. MWO needs a ticket-based gamemode like battlefield's conquest gamemode.
Basically... have two bases and three capture points. Both teams start with like 8000 tickets and when a mech on your team dies you lose tickets equal to its tonnage and they get to respawn. Capping the points would bleed the enemy team of tickets. First team to run out of tickets loses. And also destroying the enemy base would win you the game outright. Having base destruction as a win condition allows for upsets since the losing team can still win the game by pushing the enemy base.

Well, if the atlas can outrun you in a Nascar battle you truly do somethign wrong if you are not in an Direwolf.

Except assaults still carry the same firepower potential as a fast heavy because theyre subject to the same heat brick wall as said heavy. Because external DHS are so garbage that assaults cant gain a decent dissipation/capacity advantage over heavies.
So theres no reason to play an assault instead of a fast heavy. since smaller hitboxes and much faster speed/agility gives you way better survivability than a couple points of extra armor. Assaults are basically obsolete now after all the nerfs.
Thats part of the problem. heavies are the best weight class outright. the other part of the problem is the !@#$ gamemodes. Game needs to promote better role warfare by having a respawn gamemode that requires all four weight classes in order to win. heavy mechs should not be able to win without the other weight classes.

52kph. And the problem is PGI never stopped and considered "gee we have mechs that go 52kph". They didnt even implement code where the slowest mechs spawn closest to the center... which wouldve made sense. At least that wouldve been a stopgap measure until they added better gamemodes.

In all seriousness, I know what could happen when I drop in a dire wolf. All you can do is laugh when it does happen, though. Even in solo queue, players who understand teamwork won't let an assault be left behind. By the same token, if the nascar starts on a map like caustic, a good assault pilot knows when its time to take a calculated risk and cut the circle. As with most issues, there's two sides to it.
If you're going top drop a dire wolf in solo queue, my advice would be to know the maps and the likely movement of the teams well enough to economize your movement and get to the likely engagement spots. Teams can still outrun you or do something unexpected, leaving you isolated, but those are the risks.
VOIP/chat can actually help if it's used. I frequently see QQ from an assault pilot who never made an attempt to warn his team he was getting isolated. I've seen teams ignore assault pilots who made the call, also.
Pug life, yo.
