Mine comes from the first MMO i played, which became the first time i got really involved in an online gaming community. It was a Korean MMO, and the race i picked were robots that looked very much like the robot team from Unreal Tournament 2004, which i played a lot.. one of those robots is called Widowmaker, i liked it so i picked that name and then i played that game and others for so long with the guild i joined that the name is stuck now.. if its taken i just add my year of birth.

funnily enough, i do always think of the Bishop from aliens first.. i love that film.

LoL i used the name of the other robot that looks like widowmaker as a secondary nickname all the time Syzygy

thought it was such a cool name with a real meaning also.

My usual name is JohanssenJr.

After school on Fridays I'd go to my dad's company and play BF1942 and BFV. In those games you could rename your characters mid round but you couldn't make it identical to another character name.

So what I'd do is name myself after P.K. Johansen, so I'd go with P.K. Johanssen.

The reason for this was so I could hunt down my dad's employees and make them think an AI had them dead to rights.

BF2 came out and since I played as P.K. Johanssen more than my previous name of Zeke I made my BF2 account JohanssenJr.

For MWO I went to Ft. Sill for a reclassing in MOS and took off a few months and the ELP had a lot of new players that just started calling my Scarlett. So I name changed to Lord Scarlett Johan as sort of a joke.

Everything else though I'm still JohanssenJr and have been so since BF2.

it seemed like a good idea at the time, it was reasoned out, soundly, rejected, and then fell foul of the backspace key and booze..

This is basically my RL nickname.
I'm a doctor... and i'm pretty good at sweet talking people (i call it diplomacy, but whatever), so... Charlatan.

Name stuck when the mother of one of my friends, how was from abroad, thought that it was my real name and started calling me like that. Posted Image

Came up with the name during my Kali MechWarrior 2 days, the TB part was for the MW4 guild I joined and we still talk on or forums over the last 10 years.

I love 40k; especially Eldar (been playing since mid-way through 4th edition; hence "Psyker"

In the background, whenever a Psyker starts using powers, the temperature starts dropping

Hence, "Coldpsyker"- needed to do Coldpsyker1 since I messed up my first account (way back in open beta; blew all my cadet bonus on stupid stuff and then couldnt make money. Coldpsyker1 has been much more successful)

Been my screen-name for like 8-10 years now.

I used to be The Monkey because where I used to work we joked that we were going to be replaced by trained monkeys, but until then I was The Monkey doing the work. Sadly it's too popular so I had to chose something else.

I had started using Danth Vader (mashing my first name with Darth seemed ridiculously nerdy). That seemed too literal when choosing a name for MWO, so being an entomologist I went with the family name of my favorite group of insects because it had the same Vader, Sidious, Maul, Tyranus feel.

Reduvia is also Latin for hangnail and what is more terrifying than that!

My name is Jive in just about every mmo I've ever played. The first mmo I played that allowed a last name was EVE so I went with Korsan. It translates from some language as pirate so I'm literally a jive pirate.

Nickname from my Navy days.

Was a Russian Linguist for them and was a bit of a wolf with the females. So that's what they called me.

When they asked for a 'pilot name' instead of a 'player name', I invented a pilot name because I thought MWO would be an immersive experience with actual pilots and lore and stuff.

Joke's on me, the game turned out to be about as immersive as Team Fortress 2. Anyway. Alistair because I stole the name from Alistair Overeem. It's a good name. Winter because all my mechs are white and I'm from Norway.

Well, when the game first came out, I wanted Rook or Paladin, but were already taken. So I used another name I had used in DC Comics online for one of my characters, Privateer. Unfortunately, I forgot to spell check before I hit submit and didn't realize I forgot the "R" and thus I got Pivateer! LOL

Been using this name for a couple of years.
No real meaning or story behind it.

I'm lame like that.

My nickname sounds like a word in a very old and forgotten language that doesn't have letters, and means "man-who-wasn't-born". In this culture, it was usual that people only received a unique name when they died, and the name they got would reflect some happenings of their life, so something like "metalsmith-who-made-great-jewelry" or "hunter-who-slew-three-bears", and so on. Before you died, you were basically just "son-1-of-son-2-of-metalsmith-who-made-great-jewelry", and then when your father died, you would maybe become "son-1-of-man-who-found-big-mushroom". And for babies found in the woods, they had the name "man-who-wasn't-born", because they had no known parents and couldn't thus be named according to the ancestry system. Apparently they also had a problem with unwanted babies.

When I was a teenager, I was fascinated with old local history, so I chose this "man-who-wasn't-born" name as my ICQ handle. I then also used it in MSN gaming zone and on LAN parties and so on, and after a while, everybody knew me by this name.

It's not a very unique name, though, because there is a cobold spell in The Dark Eye RPG that goes something like zagibu-ubigaz (and I think it turns gold into useless junk). So there are some copycat "zagibu" guys around.

I wanted a random name for my Xbox 360 profile, and my mum was cutting bananas, so...
Then I realised there was one space left, so random number: 8.
And then I realised I forgot the 'e' in 'mutilated'
Therefore, 'mutilatdbanana8'

I think I was, like, 13 or 15 playing CS 1.6 when I came up with this beauty. I basically stole the grandeur from Funkmaster Flex, but I wanted it to sort of fall short at the end, like a giant crescendo that leads to something mediocre. Fairly common comedic device. Funkmaster Rick happened to flow pretty well, as a bonus. Plus, the young'ns don't even know who Flex is anymore, so now I've got obscurity cred, or something.

When I was in a place called Job Corps, I was in UAW. As a hazing ritual the other guys would screw over the new ppl some way. Mine was to watch a carburetor while the guys started the car. Te poured gas in (I didnt know **** about cars) and started it, whereupon a gout of flame shot up and over my face. It took off all my eyebrows etc, and screwed up my hair to about halfway back. I decided to go with it, and shaved all of my head till I had essentially a topknot. I got the nickname buddah and have had it for the last 12 or so years, so I went with "mechwarrior buddah"
