It doesn't matter playing "well" because it's a PUB drop. I've heard this several times over the past week or so.

The PUB queue isn't your personal toilet. It isn't where you get to go to "screw around and play horribly" just because.

I don't think I've ever heard of Tier 1 people saying that in chat or in forums ever... just saying...

CW is boring, queues take forever and is dominated by pugs vs premade. Lame. No reason to play it. Pug mix is the only game mode.

Pug q is boring, it's a mix of I can't care less and me,myself and I. Lame. No reason to play it. CW teamwork is the only game mode.

The vast majority of players are unorganized pubs. The only people complaining about 'the game is deserted' are the CW people.

i am so sad, ppl just refuse to admit the truth, all this "it dont matter/get your own locks/play 'your' way, its all BULL!

its NOT elitism, its playing as its designed to be played,,

its like your deciding, "this is MY car, so i will drive blindfolded and upside down, (its NOT designed for that, this is NOT a "FPS" this is NOT SUPPOSED to be played like it was,,

its NOT cowardice (like someone cried in one post) you are supposed to shoot from cover, duck in and out, NOT charge headlong to play big stompy mechs like cod, or halo, or any other trash game for dilettantes and posers, you fire TIOGEATHER to take down someone and have the advantage, NOT "i killed so many im so good, why didnt you all go get your own kills and stop try ks me" if thats ANY one idea of how this is played, plz, GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE you do not belong here, this is NOT the game you were looking for, this is a 'battle sim' not run a gun twitch, its all about looking for the weak spot and nailing it to kill off someone faster, its about trying to achieve the objective or stopping opponent from achieving it before you, you lock onto things so your TEAM can see what is where, you change locks to help make more opponents show up, NOT just lock one and stay on it, because what YOU SEE, is not what others on TEAM may see, so your adding your 'eyes and info' to the 'greater whole' if someone is JUST hanging back and fiering oly rockets, maybe you should fall back to them, and help protect them, bacause you WILL kill a weakend opponent comming up to you easier then some unscathe one thinking "i see him he dont see me yet, i will win'

its not elitism, its simply those of us who know whats going on and how this is done, and "them" thinking there console babies way of 'fps play' will work in this environment (it does NOT) the terriane IS a major part of the game, you use it, you lkearn it, what is whare, where the paths are, because if you THINK your gonna just run up to me and live? with a "fps' mindset? i will likely as not just drop my yen lows ac 20 directly into your cockpit and end your round for you right there, or some pro will twist when u fire, then return fire CUTTING OFF YOUR WEAPONS with a surgeons precision and you wont see where it came from, there are display tells on damage, use them of fail flailing around wondering why your kills arent happening, otherwise, your just another "leroy jenkens' and about as wanted as one.

the flat out truth, console pfs mindset, just does NOT have a place in this game, there is no CTF, no king of the hill, no insta gib. o repairs/reloads, ONLY infinat ammo is enegery weapons, and those are reigned in by heat buildup,

there is no personal glory if your team is suffering because you "want to do it your way' theres only "oh god, not this nab again'

the BEST thing a new player can do, is EXACTLY what they are complaining about, you SHOULD hide behind someone beefer then you are, because the bigger threat (say the atlas your hiding behind) is the main target and threat, so generally YOU are free to break out from, hiding, and maneuver to flank or even get behind opponent(usually the weakest amounts of armour and almost ALWAYS a blind spot, just shoot what ever (the atlas) is shooting and watch your scores go way up in no time, you get paid/awarded for what YOU do never mind who else is doing what to same target, otherwise, keep playing 'fps way' and get laughed at and shunned all day, learn to hide like your supposed to do untill your ready to take your shot, weither hiding around a corner, or IN A CROWD of other teams mechs, or, just continue to suck, wondering why everyone else always getting the 'kills'

just being honest, and screw if its nice or not,

I don't complain it's deserted. I only complain about people being selfish and timid, oh and people raging about deliberately not using teamwork or social skills and wanting those that do use them penalized.
Tonight i hopped onto House Kurita TS and grouped up with a bunch of solos with the odd unit player. took 5 mins to get a team, went into Cw and have had about 4 hours of great, close matches. Met some new in game buddies too.
I'd call that a win/win.

That right there is probably one of the best counters to the whole "I play my way" defense I've ever seen. :D

Such as:
Running around in circles firing at nobody
Running around the entire edge of the map not participating
Sitting in the spawn and never moving
Running around in a mech that is truly "bad" in that it carries no offensive weapons
Ejecting early in a match because you're "bored" due to the team not charging in in under 2 minutes
Getting indignant and literally screaming at people on VOIP because they "dared" offer advice, to a DIFFERENT player

I could go on and on and keep making the list longer but hopefully that gives a more clear definition of the types of players I'm talking about.

Except nobody was doing any of those things at least in the one game I played with this guy. He kept going off on voip as other people were trying to play and so that's when I was saying it didn't matter, because let them have their fun you know? It's not like one match is going to tank anyone's PSR, nobody was not killing everyone was playing. They just weren't listening to you and so we were griefing you I guess...

Pub matches are luck of the draw, sometimes you get a group that works well together and it's a stomp, sometimes it's a tough fight down to the wire, and sometimes you get roflstomped due to any number of factors.

News flash: Losing isn't being griefed.

uhmn ok
sorry if "tips and advice" and things like "turn around or we lose" is "going off" to you lol (Those are typically what I say any time I'm "going off" in VOIP)

My reply to you sir is, if you don't like listening to VOIP, there's a mute option :)

It's a pub game, it doesn't matter for CW- but it certainly matters in every other part that rewards you.

However, it has no lasting effect outside that. There are no worlds being taken, no zones being influenced, and everyone's 100% again right after. Nobody ends up losing in a pub match, the difference is in how much you get.

I agree, but this thread's kinda pointless as long as people doing their best still do >50 dmg.

doing your best and doing that damage is acceptable to me. We all ahve bad matches, we all need to learn, we all improve. I can help, as we all can, players like that improve if they want to, the griefers you cannot

You will block me if I won't try to play good? That's... horrifying... omg what will I do? omglol... ok enough but... this is just hilarious.

After 3 years of playing mwo I have exactly 0 "friends" in my Flist becase I'm refusing all invitations. I'm not playing mwo to make "friends" or talk to people so you can take your silly threats and go duck yourself :) I'll remember to play bad if I see you in my team. "Who cares about pug life" ;) You just inspired me to play more flamer+mg builds ;D

I guess I have not seen too many players intentionally sucking in PUG matches. I do, however, feel like some people in these matches don't want to improve. I play in tier 4-5 games (I can tell because of the way the team scatters) and when I suggest staying together, I get responses like "Who cares? Its Pug." I resent this. I care, since my PSR is tied to my team. But more than that its like people don't even want to learn the game...they just want to run over the hill in their badabomb brawler and whine about LRMS and lazervomit. I guess not caring bothers me...

This is exactly why serious pugs need to be allowed in group que and **** off 2 mans need to be allowed in solo que.

Every once and a while I get a unit willing to drop on Oceanic for me and it's such a breath of fresh air. But last match, everyone was slugging it out in the city on frozen, we got wrecked against a much larger group. when it was all done, I spectated a fresh king crab waddling out of the tunnel with a jager. Classic pugs. Let those clowns do stupid **** like that in solo que.

Been a proponent of allowing solos who want to, access to the group queue. I know of several solos (myself included) that would much rather be able to jump into the group queue and drop as a solo a lot of times. Not always, but sometimes it's nice if you just want some quick solo drops and you'd still like to drop in with units and groups (whether they're yours or not)

If I could opt in to group Q-I'd never have to play solo q again, it may be a dream but it's a beautiful one.

No offense to anyone, but it really seems to be coming from some of those "top players" who just treat the pub queue like it's nothing more than a glorified testing ground

It kinda is at times.

Let's get back to the original premise though.

You can't predict the 11 other players on your own team... let alone the 12 players on the opfor.

The thing we've kinda indirectly fostered through creating the solo queue is that you are effectively accountable to NOBODY. This works both ways...

You can't force to take legit builds and stuff... let alone push together... but you ALSO cannot force people to legitimately play the game. Sure you can report them, but let's be honest... this is the core reason why the rules for solos/PUGs/rambos exist in the solo queue... you simply cannot trust the players on your team in the solo queue.

What hasn't been fostered is actual accountability. The people who prefer to stay in lower tiers will do this. You'll find less of them at higher tiers... with the "penalty" that you are going to have to carry with even your crappy mech and build (because... you want to play for fun).

So, this is what you are getting. I'm not happy to be saying this.. but deal with it.

TL;DR
Ultimately (solo) pub games do matter, but also really don't matter.
