You spent too much time thinking this up.

I'm still trying to figure out if there's more than like 1 viable build that isn't pure troll (ERPPC). Posted Image

I think there are three "viable" builds. In no particular order:
  • 3xCSPL + 2xSRM2 (150 rounds)
  • 2xCMPL + 2xCSPL
  • 4xCERML
Those builds generated the most consistent results, landing between 350-450 damage when the 'Mech didn't get disarmed early. The build with 3xCERSL + 2x CSRM4 might be okay, but it felt clumsy when I tried it; the SRM2 and CSPL are just better at getting the damage out where you want it and when you want it. Actually, that first build was the best at getting damage out in excess of 500, since it fires so fast and runs pretty cool. It's issue is that the right arm has less hitpoints (and is bigger) than the left and goes boom super quick, which sucks because the missiles are your main firepower.

I think it's ok. A big weapon needs to look relatively bigger on a small mech. It makes little sense for light mechs to have tiny ppc's, lrm's and ballistic weapons, when those are much bigger on bigger mechs. Even worse, PGI has tried to shrink big weapons on big mechs, so they won't look so big on a light mech.

If you put 14 tons of weaponry in the arms of a 30 ton mech, of course it's going to look weird.

Glad someone has some sense.

To the frank... the Cheetah does them all better. Then again, most Cheetah builds don't involve missiles (you're almost better off going energy only).

Those 3 builds are too hot IMO, despite the paltry quirks (again, they are better on the Cheetah).

I don't think I'll ever like/use the SRM2...

The only builds that end up being "solid" for me...

2 CMPL (+ECM obviously, MLX-C stock hardpoints for omnipod boost)
3 CERSL + 2 SSRM2 (MLX-B stock hardpoints)
4 CSPL

The laser ones are pretty much self-explanatory (need all the DHS you can hold) and the Streak option is "good enough" to "hold down" other Lights (then again, the Jenner and its IIC equivalent is better).

Heat generation simply hurts the Mist Lynx a lot more than the alternatives and I still want to tear off 2 tons worth of JJs (and the garbage CAP that I don't need most of the time).

As an aside... what still bugs me is the lack off "how much ammo" is in the mech through the mechlab interface. Yes, I can count, but total ammo loadouts are still totally MIA (I'm trying to remember if UI 1.5 even had that stuff listed - I kinda doubt it).

Well yes, it goes without saying that the ACH (or just about any other Light) will do any job better than an MLX. I'm just reporting what I had success with.

I find Streak-2 to be woefully under-powered even for holding down other lights. At the ranges I'll be engaging said Lights, it's child's play to land standard SRMs on the target and I'd much rather get that tight grouping and rapid refire than have a guaranteed hit that splashes wherever it pleases.

As for heat, I'm running 11 DHS on the first two builds I mentioned and 13 DHS on the 4xCERML. The pulse build is the hottest, but for some reason it seems to work out alright; you end up just firing one CMPL at a time at the limit, and it works well enough. The missile variant is no worse than my LCT-1M in terms of heat generation, with the advantage of having greater burst on the lasers. The C-ERML is also practically the same as the LCT-1E, and would actually be awesome if it were A.) not so squishy and B.) had a short enough duration that those four C-ERML had the same damage per tick as the six isML on the Locust. The reason I asked for more powerful heat-gen quirks is actually so I can ditch a DHS and armor-up all the way.

I just want the heat generation quirks to compensate for the missing Trudubs in this entire exchange...

Sub-250 engines... :(
