its definitely unfair because one team starts closer to the mountain than the other.

again I think the best solution is to turn it into a CW map

That's making the assumption that taking the hill is the only viable strategy. It's not. Never has been. There are several other viable battlegrounds that are out of range for all intents and purposes from Candy Mountain

Players being myopic lemmings doesn't change that. Player impatience doesn't, either.

As for changes, well the obvious solution for your concern is simply to change the spawn points to a more "fair" distribution. "Unfairness" solved.

Signed the petition. I want Alpine to stay.

I also want old caustic into rotation as well as the old forest colonies. Bring all the maps! Variety!

but alpine conquest has different flaws... namely the fact that most of the map isnt used

As opposed to what exactly? Most of the map isn't used in any game mode.

Yes, seems like a waste if alpine can't be salvaged.. Though, I'd like to stress that I don't currently enjoy assault and skirmish on it now.

I've said it before, Alpine is my favorite map on this game. Always has been. Heck, I do what I can to stack the voting deck in my favor just so I can blow it all to make sure that I get on Alpine when it shows up in the rotation!

I have had both wins and losses of every variety on this map and I honestly and truly think it's fine as-is. It's a great map and it's only real failing is that so very little of it is utilized in any given game!

If the map has to be tweaked (such as by removing or reducing the size of the mountain), then fine, do it. But don't get rid of the map. It's still good and even then, the sheer fact that there are MORE maps is a good thing.

I'm not really that fussed.

I thought it was a good map, just people played it over and over in the same dull way and rarely went to places that were a damn site better to fight on and around, than that noob mountain.

Having said that, just making improvements to it, isn't going to change anything.

You have to look at River City, and Caustic, and how they play to realise that making them larger and more detailed was a waste of time, because people still nascar around the crater, and on river city still mostly cluster around the citadel, like a bunch of sheep.

I think it's a shame its going, but I understand why it's being withdraw

I also would love to keep the map. You do not need to charge up the hill, you know? However, some people cannot think out of the box...like running always into the middle on Terra Therma...even when it is conquest

there is absolutely no reason to remove this map from rotation. especially when you are planning to replace it with another giant map with items that draw down frame rates. quit doing this. I don't need a map where I can walk through trees and break them, I want functional non resource draining maps that don't take a week to walk across.

LEAVE ALPINE ALONG

Hate the map, but if they remove the large hill and make it flat, or a few small hills, I vote they keep it in rotation. But, if they don't remove the large hill remove it!

Upgrade your Potato

OP I want both, Alpine is great and could use a freshening up adding cover to help brawlers, unfairness solved.

Not keen on the dynamic time of day on the new maps, never have been.

So you want a tiny map with rolling hills and nothing else in it like the Sahara desert?

Quiet boring isn't it?

I'm glad they have a new map coming out, but it shouldn't replace Alpine unless it is Alpine (which it isn't).

More maps, not fewer!

Agreed! We need more maps! Keep Alpine, nuke the mountain, release the new map as well and call it a day.

I am all in favor of leaving Alpine alone and leaving it in game as is. It is a good map and is enjoyed by several players, including myself. It is a map fit for sniper builds, where you have to use duck and cover. It is intended for long range as opposed to brawling which several people seem to think is everything. After awhile, the same type of combat style (in your face brawling) gets boring after awhile. Let us have some maps for snipers, some for missiles, and others for brawls.

I don't understand the reasoning behind removing ANY map from rotation. PGI has previously stated a rather hefty cost of map production, each map represents a $ value of production value thrown away if removed. It also represents the loss of variety to the player base which could be on offer.

The simple fact of the matter is that they don't have to annoy the demographic of players that like Alpine/ Original Forest Colony/ Original Caustic. Personally, I prefer the larger maps but I understand that there are those who don't, why not keep everyone happy by making all maps available?

Fix the game modes or spawn points, please don't scrap the map!

I love Alpine for the simple fact that I can see well on it. It's one of the few maps that isn't completely covered in fog, smoke, haze, etc...

As for various game modes on it, they should really put the conquest nodes back in their original locations. Back then you had fights going on all over the map instead of just at the base of candy mountain, and it was a lot of fun.

And it was one of 2 maps where ignoring capping to focus on killing lost you the match most of the time.

Granted with how fast most mechs are today that's less likely to be the case but still...

Not to debate the points of alpine, but we have voting now. Leave it in and let the players decide.

I would like to see Alpine, old river city and old forest colony return as 8v8 maps.

I am for keeping alpine, Its not a bad map, though it gets played one dimensionally, especially by new players. But we don't have enough maps in the rotation as it is.
