Has anyone suggested using the cockpit monitors to display casualties in-game?

Remember Aliens or when USA first tried offensive in Independence Day? You start with 12 green check boxes in a 4x3 grid (by lance) and each box blinks out as casualty mounts.

This gives, at a glance, how the battle is going instead of TAB and I can't imagine it requiring too much extra coding. Now I know the monitors have been ignored for years and the devs never seem to be keen on doing much about it but just maybe....

They say they plan on making more uses for the monitors down the road. This would be a good one.

I would like to have a rear-view mirror on one of those monitors too. Damn inconvenient to turn an assault 180 degrees just to take a peek behind.

Cryengine does not support multi-view port rendering... so no rear view EVER!

its stupid i know... but that is what it is.

they can however implement a real look toggle !

Nice...

I suggested the same (Apparently I'm not the only one who loses track of time while playing and hates to tab out to find out) in the satirical farce they call the "serious cockpit item" contest... How the hell we wound up with a locket and a Bonsai tree over a useful item like a clock I'll never fathom... but I digress.

Specially when you see that Tina along with two other PGI guys sit at a devlog and laugh about all the suggestion...

I PM'ed everyone (including Tina about this suggestion)... they never even READ the PMs!

This was the closest to an answer i could get:

Well, since PGI decided to make a vehicular combat game using an engine that doesn't support rare-view mirrors, I guess a toggle would do quite nicely.

This would be super useful for Conquest. I always find myself reporting the score to my team in Conquest, because teams often focus too much on capping and they don't realize the actuall kill score may be 1-4 and capping will be pointless unless they get some kills. Alas, the HUD only displays resources in Conquest. Which is kind of absurd.

I would love a rear camera, the amount of times I try to backup from a poor decision only to get caught on one of those indestructible trees and annihilated.......

unrelated, I would pay real monies for alternative voice packs for "bitching betty" I'd pa the price of a mastery bundle for brian blessed Posted Image

A counter showing allied deaths would be really useful. I also thought about an in game clock and a clock somewhere in the Mech Lab page. Good ideas, gang.

It's surprising how PGI is leaving some of the best screen real estate blank for so long. Why are all the MMO devs chasing the 'fluffy dice' and paint job cosmetics money and leaving the immersion-wanting crowd hanging? I think a lot more people would pay for something useful (casualty counter, clock etc) as oppose to paying real money for digital trinkets.

Yes, I WOULD pay for a mech module that shows me casualty in real-time as well as the condition (green, yellow, orange, red) of my team from the monitor.

I like this idea because we need a counter especially when we land on modes like conquest.

Counter is fine but I find it breaks immersion even in Skirmish. Since the game already tracks the casualty data under the hood and the top left hand corner effectively already does what I suggest but just limited to your own lance, I can't see why some coder in PGI don't just whip something up for the entire team on the side.

That'll probable garner a lot more praise from the player base than doing whatever PGI boss's being planning with those 3 empty monitors for the past 2 yrs.

This, MW4 has a toggle using a rearview 'camera' on your mech's exterior or some such. Would be useful honestly, if nothing else than to keep people from backing into me for no reason or to see where I'm going and not do the same.

I just want my hud stuff on my monitors. I really find it hard to believe that they can't make calls in the code to make that data replicate itself to appear in a second location.

All things considered on the programming side, it should be one of the simpler things to accomplish.

I'd love it to also display their HP though, I could then easily see which group is under fire by it. Mech name would also be helpful if it would fit.
