I've been playing for a few days and I've just begun to scratch the surface of the game. I definitely want to get into CW but I want to know what I'm doing and be well prepared before I jump in. That being said, it's difficult to learn in PuGs where no one uses comms so I'm looking to a CW House willing to take and train up a newbie.

Please head over to http://www.aw0l.enjin.com/ and see if we are what you are looking for.
The biggest hurdle to becoming better is first acknowledging you want to become better.

Honestly imo the 2 best places to get lots of CW help and advice from are the FRR TS hub (download Teamspeak free client), pop in and say hello, lots of friendly people palying CW with all who drop by and helps if you are aligned to FRR

and The Reserves training unit (friend Mercier)

If you're new i've got a few pointers for you to grow and become skilled, you don't need a unit if you can use the voice chat, no worries. What you need now is to learn the basics.
Im gonna give you a few pointers to put you in the right track, it's up to you to improve.
1)Avoid CW until you have a full custom deck of mechs, and it would be optimal to have an ELITED deck because your opponents will surely do.
2)Join public queue for quick matches to farm money and get a feel of game mechanics, some are very different from CW, others are not, like...
3)Torso twisting, it's technique that revolves around turning your center torso away from incoming fire by shielding it with your arms and side torsi, this is very much useful during a brawl where you can unload an alpha strike then contain return fire.
4)Never be the first , i know it sounds like a douchy behaviour but usually the guys up front are the one dying first, let them take the damage in your stead, or if you want to practice pointer 3 then be one of them.
5)Before committing select a target and take a look at his loadout, too much luggage means XL, easier for you to kill since you only need to destroy a side torso, which are weaker than CT.
6)Heat management, learn to contain the heat by creating sensible weapon groups and engaging chain fire when you start to run too hot. The LAST thing you want is to shutdown during a brawl.
7)Make informed decisions, you can buy mechs you like but you might find them underperforming in this game, some mechs are more beginner friendly than others, either in terms of builds than in term of handling.
8)And this is a crucial pointer...look at the minimap, it allows you to notice UAV(for a split second) or mechs trying to flank and all that stuff.
9)Avoid Laser weapons if you ping more than 140, use pulse lasers, AC, missiles.

Also feel free to join us on the Marik TS server and www.housemarik.enjin.com
We've always got groups and players around that will be more than willing to help you out. You can also feel free to just hang out and check out the different units we have available there. We won't bite, but we might make you drop lead

Hey props to you for taking the right steps to learn, also check out the CW guide in my signature below, there is a lot of incredibly useful information in there, including mech and build information. CW begins Slide 49.

Absolute props op on having the right attitude. The game is complex and convoluted. The biggest mistake people tend to make is just stumbling along in pug queue. You pick up bad habits that are hard to break later. Getting good help early is a decision that will really, really help you along.
Good job. I hope you stick with it.

Like other have said, get Teamspeak and get active in your Faction Hub.
Don't be shy. You will find a VAST majority of players/people will go the extra mile to help a new player that shows interest in learning.
Ask questions, ask for help. You do that and you WILL get the help you need and take a much larger step into a far better game experience.
