Well just because I'm not a huge fan of the AC20 anymore certainly doesn't mean I won't be trying it again. And an AC20 on a medium is pretty sick.
I think a medium is where the 20 really shines (especially a quicker medium). Good for hit and run tactics and it can shine late game when the opponents are starting to get beat up.
Overall I'm with you. I'm not a huge fan (again mostly due to how fragile it is over the range issue), but it does have its place.

Crabs are too but with them you have keep your torso aimed at your target(80% of time) or the sides will get blown off pretty quick due to how long the body is on that mech.
Griffins aren't bad either but some models have all their hardpoints on one side and if that side gets blown off then you're weaponless(you'll have to use the empty side as a shield).

Are MG's really all that good though? I've never ever been sold on them. Thank you.
MG's are kind of an afterthought on that build. I had good heat efficiency and it made sense to pair up the Small or Medium Laser with something in the other arm of similar range. Like I said... mixed results. You need face time with the enemy if you're going to use your MGs, which is ok if you are behind or flanking... not so much head on. lol
As you may have already noticed based on the replies, the 5R is very flexible.

I considered Griffins but it seems SRM's+artemis is the way to go with them and frankly I'm anything but a missile user.

Griffins are actually a lot better in my opinion. Use SRM4 without artemis with no worries.

So put in a bigger engine, 90 KPH enforcers are hardly sluggish.
I wanna say i run the 4R with a bunch of Med lasers and Gauss
The one he was looking at primarily had a max engine of 260, at the best case its slow. I think the best rig I had for it was 3 LL and 2 ML and just poked around the side of the assaults.
Rest of them were more tolerable, but its still a comparatively sluggish medium, even when stacked up against the HBKs I run with 235s.

But hunchies have no JJ's...
i feel the exact opposite, i can do things in my ENF's i never dreamed of in HBK's. To each his own i guess!

I do regret getting the dual UAC5 variant though, as its by far the weakest for me personally.

The 5D is also a pretty sweet Mech:
The 4P is also a blast to pilot:
Bottomline, you can't go wrong with the Enforcer. It's a terrific little chassis and surprisingly tanky for its weight, even with an XL in it. I highly recommend it!
