Not a huge fan of Alpine, mainly because in a PUG drop it take much effort to get the rest of the team to try something other than rush the hill. One of the better matches was when I convinced my side that we could just defend the base when we spawned on the lower side. Except for one holdout who raged in team chat and VOIP before storming up the hill, the rest of the team stayed put and eventually crushed the enemy as they dribbled off the hill in twos and threes. That being said, the 3 maps that need the most tweaking are Alpine,Terra Therma, and the Bog. Don't think we'll see any resources directed that way, though, as PGI seems to be resource challenged (per usual).

Well, once I saw 23 players head for Mt. Derp in an assault game. I myself decided to park my Dire Wolf at the enemy's base on the west. We won via cap. Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

the map is ok even if people think its bad.. its not like you are playing it constantly. i just started and with almost 300 matches i played it 5 times. Better keep it for the variety.. no?

Spawn locations.

Single biggest problem on Alpine.

Second is all the wasted space thanks to Troglodyte Mountain.

I want to know why PGI thinks placing the assault lance in the middle of nowhere in alpine skirmish is funny!!!!!!!!???

It's a people problem: zombies being attracted to that non-existent pile of human brains on Mt. Derp.

Well, that assumes zombies are still people. Posted Image

Alpine is here to stay. Russ stated on Twitter that Alpine is staying in the rotation. This confuses me.

Guessing by the title you don't approve.

I can't say I care, i'm surprised I even replied to this to be honest

I got a twitter account specifically to campaign for Alpine to stay. To scrap a map because the spawn and capture points suck... That's just asinine even for PGI.

What are you smoking? Our QQ paid off?

Russ said he was reading old information when he made the roadmap, and that Alpine was there to stay anyways.

Alpine, HPG and Terra Therma are actually fun for Conquest. Even though I hate Conquest and only play it when we lose the mini game.

Be nice if PGI would figure out why certain maps are better with certain modes and exploit that by maybe adding them into CW somehow.

Alpine could use a couple modifications to discourage the single mindedness ppl have on it.

-Change base locations in assault mode, move from G11 to K12
- Remove H9 hill or make it a less desirable position. (Make it a volcano with a geothermal plant on top)

Instead of changing the map to "discourage the single mindedness ppl have on it", why not instead take advantage of the same and use it against the enemy?

MWO is supposed to be a "thinking person's shooter", right?

It is one map where scouts can really help out. If the other teams assaults spawn in G3 it is so easy to cut them off if the rest of the team hill climbs. You just have to be prepared to give up the high ground which isn't a big deal if you have a 4-0, 4-1, 4-2 or even 4-3 advantage.

Never had a problem with the map, just its spawn locations, they really only need to be changed a little, then theres terra which sucks, caustic still has broken rocks, bog is still one sided due to both ramps up the hills facing one way.

Agreed

Don't hate the map

Hate the players

Those who march up Alpine's mountain or into Terra Therma's volcano, again and again.
Those who can go no where else but the platform on Crimson Strait, again and again.

Or those who, during conquest mode on Frozen City insist on taking HALF OR MORE of the TEAM to THETA, effectively removing them from the match and LEAVING THE REST OF US UP TOP TO.......TO.........Sorry, that last was a long held personal gripe. I've wanted to say something for some time now. Thanks for listening.

Cool, now the question is whether they're going to make sensible adjustments to Alpine or not.

Considering that they originally set out to fix Alpine they might still do it, but this is PGI we're talking about so it's still up in the air.

The map (and its spawn points) is what enables 1 team to immediately climb up a huge mountain with ease to gain the high ground and lots of cover.

How do you expect the map to improve without changing it?

How do you expect the map to improve without changing it?

so you HAVE to go against the entrenched position when there are other better battlegrounds out of reach of the mountain?

People being too impatient or unimaginative to actualyl use the map, ain't a map problem. It's an ADHD generation of gamers problem.

Spawn points could be "better" but even the "worst" spawn is actually only bad...if you insist on fighting for Candy Mountain.

Me? I'd rather have the team go to the low south spawn point and make the opfor come to me.
