Enemy is a large premade.
"We're in trouble."
"Don't worry, its Davion."
"Oh okay."
We won that one.

I heard this after another player calmly took company command and gave basic strategy orders and started calling targets. Welcome to team play?

Not so sure if you'd like my current drop deck then... I field 4 Crabs, and do extremely well with them in CW...

Ist drop. 11 players gather up at gate (after destroying turrets) for the big push while the 12th player destroys the Gate Generator. Gate proceeds to open and standing directly in the middle of the gate opening was a single Cheetah. INSTANTLY VAPORIZED!! Have never seen a mech go down so fast... Other enemy players were no where in sight.
Would have made an interesting scout report...

Cheers!

Side note: Funny how so many people here toss in the shameless epeen stroking plug at the end of their posts XD

I see it as also not making it a fair match.
As much as I may like a player advantage in a match, I also feel horrible when a player is removed (by disconnect or intentional team kill). I rather have a good tough even match than a matched already weighted in my favor. I also consider how I would feel in their place...

Silly me, I've been explaining to pugs since CW began that by hanging in the back and "sniping" or "lrming" you have given your enemy a huge dps vs. armor advantage. It is much much easier for them to focus you while your buddies sprinkle lasers across their body. I had it all wrong.

A Timberwolf with nothing but 2 LRM 20 Artemis, a single AC 2! (Not even UAC) and a Tag.

"Clan mechs are OP"
I hear both of these all the time when I PUG in CW. The truth is 90% of the PUG players in CW have no idea what is good and what isn't.

Try to explain to someone why the Gen has a small port to shoot into so you can take it down
Then I lie and tell them how great phase 3 is going to be
I wish some of these try hards would get on team speak with some new players and try to explain
Some of this stuff

Yeah. We're out here trying that. The problem is that once the intelligent players in the community finally get them to understand how useless LRMs are, SOMEone comes around and convinces them they aren't. Then they spend 50 matches either stomping noobs or getting stomped by vets because they use weapons that are only good against newbies.
The problem isn't the community's willingness to help. The problem is that most of the community still hasn't figured out the basics of the game (mind-boggling yet true) but still try to tell people how to play.

The other team thought we were totally up to something, seeing something like eight or nine Ravens in the first wave. In retrospect it was hilarious but it was definitely not a good match!
We used to do this all the time. It's actually a great strategy that won almost every game. They key is that you have to hide and power down so that the enemy walks past you before you make your attack. If they see you while still at long range it's over.

I wouldn't call LRMs useless. Depends upon what you expect out of them.
Avoiding the whole debate though, I'll agree that LRMs aren't exactly in the best of places right now. But they aren't as bad as some people seem to proclaim them to be either.

They are horrible if more than 1 player on your team is using them at a time, unless you are facing T5 level pugs maybe.

Something many people don't understand is that LRMs are a utility weapon. They are very flexible and can perform more than just damage, or indirect damage. With proper teamwork, knowledgeable game play, and target calling, LRMs can be very effective. At the same time, most players use them to hide and shoot only indirectly, and they also tend to boat LRMs. Each are tactics that, though they can work, I don't feel are very good use for LRMs.
Player skill, whom you are facing and the user of, do come into effect when LRMs are being discussed. But I've seen T1 players get crumpled by LRMs from time to time. Just, it happens a lot less often (because there is less LRM use, as well as more knowledge and skill in avoiding them).
I tend to use LRMs as a support weapon, to compliment my other weapons. They come in handy often on many of my assaults, when I'm slow and still moving into position for my other weapons. The LRMs permit me to still support my team and/or even scare opponents back into hiding.
There are many ways to play and use LRMs. Not all of them are exactly effective. (Kinda like, if you don't hold a laser beam on target for most/all of it's duration, it isn't very effective.)
Keep in mind, I'm not saying that LRMs are wonders, nor am I calling them trash. They do have their uses, and it's ultimately up to the individual to use what they enjoy in a game, and how they intend to use it in the game.
