Have we had confirmation that it is based off of the quirked structure and not the unquirked structure?

The formula uses Leg Structure to determine damage, and from strenuous tests, it's evident Quirks play a part in that (Like the Quirk Summoner needing half as many Jumps as a GHopper with the same armour (remove from the GHopper to account for its own armour quirks) to get down to structure).

Quote

How much damage is determined by it's fall velocity and the weight class of the falling 'Mech.
Light 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.04
Medium 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.03
Heavy 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.035
Assault 'Mechs = (Internal Structure Health * 1.9) * 0.04

Everyone keeps focusing on the Blackjack, but there are other examples of mechs that got similarly large buffs.

For example. We look at the 45 ton Blackjack and see it's 10 points short of matching a 65 tonner. Wow! However when we go up to the 65 ton mechs and look at the Catapult, we see it has 5 more hitpoints than an 85 tonner!

Excluding the Blackjacks, there are over 30 IS mechs that have the approximate hitpoints of a mech 15-20 tons heavier. The Blackjack isn't even the strongest medium. The Hunchback 4SP is basically a 70 tonner and it gets much better weapon quirks. The BJ is certainly above average, but there are plenty of mechs in the same neighborhood.

Stripping the blackjack of its hitpoint quirks will not fix the game. It will just put it in the glass cannon pile and IS pilots will switch to one of the 30 other options they have. Or perhaps they will choose the over 50 other mechs that have the approximate hitpoints of a mech 10 tons heavier.

I would rather we focus on bringing up the IS mechs lagging behind rather than reverting back to the lower TTK we had before.
