Friends, I have grave news. The Turkina Sucks. Anyone paying attention may already know this, but to those who dont, lets look at some numbers

The Turkina is a 95 ton clan omnimech. It has two LBX 5s, 2 ER PPCs, and 2 LRM 15s stock. Not a great stock loadout, but sure there are worse out there. Its other loadouts give it a solid spread of hard points. The Turkina has 42 tons of podspace, but with jumpjet rules in mechwarrior online, it would have roughly 38 tons of podspace. With the state of jumpjets, I can hardly say this is a good trade.

Most importantly, the Turkina, a 95 tonner, comes fixed with a whopping clan XL 285 engine giving it a blazing top speed of 54 kph.

Can you see where I'm going with this?

We have the Direwolf S already. The turkina, in all its forms, is just a gimped direwhale. It has less podspace, fixed jumpjets, and ok hard points. In its TT form, it adds nothing to the game.

This is sad news, because the turkina, could look like this:

But pBiggZ, what should we do? I like the turky!

So do I, i think its cool, so I think we should let go your earthly tether, enter the void and become wind of the stock loadouts. Give PGI suggestions on what the Turkina could become. For starters, the turkina was always described as a larger cousin to the summoner, so give it LOTS of jumpjet thrust, and a much bigger engine, maybe a 340 or so. Dedicate the rest to a perhaps smaller arsenal of very large weapons. Gauss, UAC 20s, ER PPCs, missiles, and pulse lasers, in varied mixes. Come up with a collection of reasonable loadouts that honour the originals while actually adding a meaningful assault to the game, instead of a reskinned, but gimped direwolf.

You already know Pgi is never going to go for this, right? Pgi has made up variants but with clans they've only been different hard points. I strongly doubt they'd modify the engine.

BTW, if you want to discuss something, you should be open to different opinions.

Eh, give it a fair bit more agility than the whale and it'll be an interesting enough alternative.

Or just fix jumpjets, so jumping mechs are worth the tonnage spent on jets.

some odd reason I cannot help but think of the Champion mech with arms & crazy lower torso and legs when I see that art work...

So wait....

You are trying to tell me that we should upgrade an already inadequate mech by making it more similar to the Summoner.

The Summoner.

now that you mention it it does look like a Stalker with the Cat's missile boxes, but the rest not too sure...

They won't modify the engine.
Buuuuuuuut they could give it crazy agility quirks (10% extra speed? lots of accel/decel?), which TBH makes no sense.

In TT it may be a worse Dire Wolf. In MechWarrior Online that profile gives it an advantage over the hard to miss Dire Wolf and would be a great addition to the profiles on the field.

the mech strictly speaking TT here, I have seen it do better than the Dire Wolf at times.

The engine value need not be altered when the Turkina could be given torso twist speed and arm reflex quirks to make is slow moving yet agile turret. With generous range of motion for the torso rotation and arm pitch and yaw the Turkina could be as slow as a Direwolf but far more agile.

Jumpjets on ALL omnimechs need to be unfixed. The only components that should be fixed on Omnimechs should be structure, armor and engines. Heatsinks, jumpjets and other "lore fixed" items should be removable.

I would also maybe even advocate ferro fibrous armor being an allowed upgrade on omnimechs without it but not removable on omnimechs that already have it. After all adding armor plates isn't as involved as replacing the mech's skeleton. So you could for example add Ferro to a Nova but could not remove ferro from a Stormcrow.

The nitch the Turkina would fit in then would be a more agile yet just as slow direwolf with fewer weapon hardpoints and pod tonnage than a Direwolf.

The Dire would be a plodding monster that lays waste to anything that ends up in front of it while a Turkina would be a plodding lesser monster that can actually manage to track targets with arm and torso movements.

No JJs need to stay locked on all omnis that have them. there is a reason why they are called 'fixed' locations.

Of all the clan omnis, I'd rather we get the Firemoth or Viper.

If they do more IICs, I'd rather see the Locust IIC, Griffin IIC, Rifleman IIC, or Whammy IIC.

I would like those mechs as well, though I wonder how long it would take to get them for C-bills?

Quite so. They missed a chance to make another clan assault like the Turkina worth adding when they put the hoverdire in the game. Jumping could have been the reason you'd want one. If they're not going to make jumpjets an option for every mech then they could at least use the limitation to give incentive for a bit of variety.

Just a few days ago I was thinking those exact mechs would be excellent for the next IIC pack!

Was it announced somewhere that we are getting the Turkina or something?
