OR you look at it as medium lasers that aren't useless Posted Image

For a 1 ton, 1 Crit Slot weapon, even at regular range I would argue they are rarely useless.

But I'm a light and medium mech pilot mostly, so who knows.

Useless is a strong word. But they are a whole lot more useFUL when their optimum range is over 300m..

But to your previous post, yeah the 9E hardpoint one... hmmm 3 LPL and 5MLs? or 3LL and 6MLs.... decisions decisions.

Looks like there is a bit for everyone, hard-core TT fanatics (PPC quirks) and meta-tryhards alike (all the other weapon quirks).
Which, of course, means both are complaining. Posted Image

I'm more likely to 2 LPL, 5 MPL. I've been on a Wub binge lately.

I still wish I could rock like 3 PPC's and have it be even 2/3rds as effect as the builds you are suggesting :(

I used to load as many PPC's as possible into any mech I could back in Mechcommander. Useless may once again be to strong a word for what they are in this game but in the hell tier of weapons it goes like this for me:

1. Flamers
2. Machine Guns
3. Inner Sphere Small Lasers
4. Clan Autocannons
5. PPC's

The quirk powercreep is getting out of control.

What are you talking about? There is no power creep here.

I agree with the sentiment, but I'm of the mindset that most of these overquirked mechs should be brought DOWN instead of PGI trying to LIFT the crap mechs up.

Yea I agree

would like to see more mobility quirks. They have done well on the defensive ones (too well in some cases, LOOKING AT YOU MR BLACKJACK). I think 10% max, maybe even 5% for weapons quirks. Replace those with sensor quirks, mobility quirks, JJ quirks, etc.

The reason I'd like to see weapon quirks gone, besides the obvious power creep, is that when PGI want to balance/make changes to weapons all they have to do is change the weapon, and not worry about the ripple effect it has on all the mechs with weapon quirks for that type.

One of the things I did while I work today while waiting on the systems to update was to get the average ranges.

I feel they should really just push the IS laser ranges up by 10-15% and do away with heat gen quirks nearly entirely.

Game is in a place where mobility quirks are next to useless (corner ridge poking) but I do agree that rather than try to make IS weapons up to clan standards they should be making the IS ones of a more damage soaking nature armour structure plus your suggested JJ quirks

Honestly, I don't give a damn about quirks. I'll run mostly stock anyway.

This chassis is a great example of why I hate quirks in general. There may be a way to make them (quirks) work, but PGI hasn't figured it out. The thing PGI did right was rank mechs based on success, after that quirks went sideways.

What is so terrible about the quirks lol.

Everyone is all "the sky is falling" and I'm looking at these quirks like "Hmm not bad". They aren't even super crazy op. Are you upset that there are no MG quirks or something?

My only comment is that I don't understand why one variant out of four gets 50% velocity while the others get 30%.

The others don't have significantly superior quirks anywhere else, and all of them seem to come stock with some kind of PPC.

It just seems arbitrary.
