It was well advertised that the early adopters would end on Dec. 31st. I scrambled a lot to gather the monies needed just for the basic pack to get my foot in the door. Later this month I picked up the additional add-ons.

Sorry you missed it, but it it what it is.

Without the early adopters rewards cutoff , why would anyone give them any money until the day before release essentially ? Or even after release.

I bought the archer pack immediately upon announcement as I wanted the early adopter rewards ,if there were none I would have waited months until it released.

They got my money immediately , that means something to a business with a payroll.

To get people to give them money months and months before anything is going to be released there has to be a reason to do so for the buyer , and as such c-bills and cockpit items etc fill that role.

I think they should make some changes to their preorder/early adopter program:

1) Make the preorder bonus stuff just cosmetic (cockpit items, colours, patterns etc.)

As the OP said by making the preorder stuff worth 1/3 of the total value while you will succeed in encouraging some people to spend $35-55 in December there are also some people that will refuse to spend $35-$55 at all from January to March once they realize they lost out on so much value. Myself included.

2) Allow the preorder bonus items to be had right up until release.

While it will spread the $35-55 dollar purchases between December to March it will certainly increase the amount of $35-$55 purchases by not chasing away those that lost out on the 1 month window.

3) FFS stop advertising the early adopter rewards when they have expired.

Do you think Bestbuy increases sales on PS4's from January to March by advertising how you could have paid the same price and received 3 free games on boxing day/week? No because that would be stupid... yet here PGI is chasing away sales.

None of these suggestions are unreasonable and every one of them would succeed in increasing overall sales between the 3-4 month period mech packs are on sale prior to release. They lost out on my money from the Origin IIC pack due to this reason. Now I will wait for a cbill sale since the new/shiny period is already over. Many others I have talked to feel the same way. Their current methods succeed in nothing more than cramming an overall lower amount of total sales into 1 month rather than increasing total sales over 3-4 months.

You question why people wouldn't wait until the last minute to buy then admit you bought the pack immediately on announcement rather than waiting until the 31st. Like you I bought well before the end of the preorder bonus as well because it was convenient for me at the time and I didn't want to miss the window for the bonuses. Expanding that window won't negate our behaviour, but it will increase the total amount of sales by having a larger window.

Also while I'm sure it's nice to have a glut of sales in one month when you have mech packs for sale every month there will be a preorder window ending every month as well... only difference is PGI may have a steadier amount of sales with an increased total. That's good for a business with a payroll.

There is literally no point in buying after the early adopters ends....like none at all.

You get none of the goodies and 3 mechs instead of 4 or 5 and PGI usually makes the good one the "p2w" one and it always get released last.

Its very money grabish and half the reason i stopped buying packs. They are profiting off a small base of whales that get whipped into a fanboy frenzy at the sight of mechs they had years ago in TT or other games. If you want to jump in on that go ahead but i jut dont see the reason to honestly.

Its a kin to putting a gambler in front of a casino and then getting mad when he lost the $50 you gave him. Or being mad a drinker who got drunk at the bar....

Okay, so you missed out on a good chunk of CBills, and some cockpit shiny's.

What you gained: The chance to see it in game, see it reviewed, and as much time as you please to consider your purchase.

Before you started your tirade you might of wanted to actually look at what was being discussed. You look pretty foolish when you complain about problems that don't apply to the Archer pack.

I would like to see how many sales were generated by removal of the Early Adoptor Rewards.

Can we see some sales data to support removal of 1/3 the package content? Obviously, removal of the rewards was a marketing decision to increase revenue. Has it worked?

I still want to buy the pack, but only if they offer the full pack... Not the neutered ripoff version.

What? They didn't generate sales by removing the rewards. They generate early sales by having the rewards.

When they announce the pack there is a deadline for early adopter awards that is published with the pack at the time it's announced. There aren't any numbers to show what the sales would have been without the early adopter awards because there wasn't any early time where the awards were not available.

Lack of preorder goodies has made me not purchase a few times. I didn't have money in time for the IIC and didn't end up getting it.

Wanted a MAD package but again, my funds are limited and not always available, I live hand to mouth.

Didn't honestly want a WHM as I have JM6s and TDRs that do their jobs well enough but I would have gotten another steam pack if they had that sale for a couple more days.

All I can say about preorders is that... pay attention to when the deadlines are... ALL OF THEM.

Paying into unknown has too many risks.. but if you don't care, then go ahead.

Ultimately, it's not anyone's concern other than PGI's sales.

I still think the standard package worth it even without Early Adopter Awards.

20$ for 3 mechs, and 1 month premium, essentially you pay 8$ for 3 mechs, thats good for me. It would take me hours to grind enough money for 3 mechs.

I want to throw cash it them because I don't have enough time to grind for them and also grind for new equipment and modules (I bought the Hunch and Jenner IIC pack).

I will not grind for Archers. PGI will either get money from me, or I will skip that chassis, and that would be a bummer. The removal of the Early Adoptor variants made the pack much less valuable than it was .

They removed 3 Heavy Mechs' worth of value from the package.

That is a slap in the face, and makes the package a no-buy. I will buy the full package in a heartbeat now since I have a renewed MWO budget, but I will not buy the reduced-value package.

I'm excited for the Archer... also contemplating getting the hero since I don't have any ECM capable mechs.

Sadly the exchange rate is terrible for Canadians and I don't feel like throwing away money.

I don't blame you. Plus you get charged a fee on the exchange as well that makes it even worse bang for your buck.

Yeah, well PGI gave the hero Variant ECM, which means they expect us to buy with cash. And I want to.

However I spent $80 in December alone on premium time and other mechs. It's January now, so I can budget in an Archer.

What's my reward for buying $80 worth of stuff in December? Removing 3 mechs' worth of value from the Archer packs. Some darn reward.

The early adopter rewards are really dumb.

It basically comes down to buy it early or dont buy it at all... and they lose all the business in the latter case.

See, I don't want that to happen. I want to buy it. I do not want to buy it now that they devalued the package; I want to buy the *full* Archer pack.

It's $35 minimum for the Archers + Hero. That's about how much an entire video game costs.

Add the C-Bills and module back in and I will not be insulted by the package price.

How do the freebie weapon and mech modules work?

Do you need to have the skill unlocked in order to equip them and what's level of the modules?

Yes you need to unlock them in the pilot tree, but modules themselves don't have a level they just operate at the level you have unlocked in the pilot skill tree.
