The mjority people realize Alpine needs work, and PGI say's they're going to fix it. The only real problem is that stupid mountain.

Way more than just that Hamburger Hill, the size, the drop locations are unbalanced, the stupid lack of any cover, the sniper advantage and the boredom that is Alpine..

Only thing worse than Alpine is Terra...

We have plenty of brawling maps with enough cover to give LRMs and Snipers a tremendous challenge. What's wrong with a map that gives brawlers a challenge? I'd say 90% of the time I find a way to get my Nova in range. I do admit that it could use a little more cover for slow brawlers like the Atlas, but even then, the rest of the team should be suppressing the enemy to allow the Atlas to get close and bring the pain.

But the size?.... So much of the community has been asking for larger maps since forever.

If new map will lack cover too, then it doesn't matter: we had one terrible map - we will have two. At Alpine brawlers are at least viable at Candy Mountain fighting. That's why Candy Mountain is the curse and cure of this map at the same time. It's the reason of this map's unbalance, but It's also so big magnet, just because it's the only viable cover on this map.

I really hate, that every new map in this game is designed so badly, that it immediately goes into my list of maps, I would ban, if would have such an ability. Crimson Strait, Terra Therma, new Forest Colony, new River City and now this map?

I'm glad they are leaving it in, I think there should be several maps for each terrain type.

I actually find it very hard to comprehend how there is only a single map for each set of terrain assets, it seem so extremely wasteful to do a complete new map asset set for each new map.

I think there could easily be 5+ map variations per terrain type, and then the map vote could be for terrain type with the specific variant being random.

I actually like playing on the hot maps like Tourmaline and Terra Therma just because it pushes me to manage my heat better. I actually get kind of tired of the cold maps just because it feels like a crutch.

If for nothing else, than at least as an option to be played on for Private matches.

I miss old Caustic Valley. The new one feels like Caustic erupted and spewed out a bunch of garbage all over it's sides. I don't very much like the new Caustic (or I do but not as much as the old one). I liked flanking the side hills on the old map.

Lots of good strategy to be implemented on that map.


I particularly like when clan mechs drop into the cauldron and try to fire more than one alpha. I get to sit on the side and pick them apart with AC fire. Good times!

Why? So we have less wide open maps, not more? No thanks. This game has enough brawling Nascar maps.

I like Alpine, you can see where you are walking, don't get stuck etc. It's a fair map.

You must not play an assault because terra therma is the ultimate anti assault map. Somehow the whole map is a hill it seems.


So your solution is ONLY have Maps that Assault Mech drivers will like? How kind of you, NOT! You sure you don't want only Cold, Assault friendly maps?...

I'd rather have a large variety of maps. I want maps that are imbalanced, as in lore and war, one does not always fight where they want. Of course, I want some "balance" still, to have fair play. But I don't want every map to cater to "one role" of warfare either, because balance for Brawlers is more cover, etc.

I like Alpine for the breath of fresh air (pun kinda intended) from the cluttered maps that brawlers and pokers are good for. I don't mind the cluttered maps, but I also want some relatively clear maps as well. I don't mind some maps with a lot of snagging terrain, but I also want some maps with little to no hindering terrain as well.

Variety is the spice of life. Mix it up a bit. Maybe creating a more balance (range/role wise) build can start being rewarded. Almost all my mech builds can work on any map type, open terrain or close in brawling. I wished other people would do so as well, so we stop getting so many boats. Maps such as Alpine help to enforce this. Don't like Alpine because it enforces a bit more range? Build a more flexible mech loadout. (My opinion of course.)

I'm also glad Alpine stays.

It has one quality most new maps lack. It has open swooping terrain with nothing to get stuck on. This makes maneuvering and fighting a crap load of fun since you can focus on the enemy and not avoiding terrain all the time (like what they did to Caustic).

There's also fighting at all ranges. Most games on Alpine start out long but eventually end in a brawl. Occasionally you can get your team to take a different route with all kinds of fun to be had. Its really not as bad as some make it out to be.

Just consider it a small king of the hill type map and have fun with it.

Haven't decided yet, but it's very likely, that new map will meet with Therma and Alpine in my list of worst maps in this game. I had 2 worst maps in my list - since now I will have 3.
