No mech is subpar as long as it has enough high mounts. Especially the 5D version with 6 energy slots on the arms.

BJ3 was considered sub par til it got the heck quirked out of it

But Blackjack as a chassis is not sub par at all.

And it's still a lighter, older Jägermech in MWO or TT.

Again: If you want to equate "older and lighter" with "obsolete", that's your problem. I'm pointing out the *fact* that the Rifleman is exactly what you're claiming it isn't.

I know what you mean and you know what I mean. But my comments are for those who think that it will be a subpar Jäger.

Will it Dual Goose or Trip-UAC5 as well as the Jager? Nope. But it having energy in high mount arms means Goose/LL or PPC/AC10.

What makes the rifleman's hardpoints any better than the Firebrand?

Can Firebrand, or indeed Jagermech in general, mount 6 lasers on the high mounted arms?

Doesn't need to, its a ballistic platform with laser backup, but the examples given were gauss/LL and PPC/AC10, which the Firebrand can do as well, without having to spend the extra money to do.

Realistically, the quirks are going to revolve around AC/5's and LL for the 3N, see how it goes.

Because the Rifleman will be out for CBills. The Firebrand isn't.

Here's a comparison:

You can see that the Rifleman has superior HPs location. It also has smaller silhouette from the front as a bonus.

Green = cockpit, red = HPs.

That would be too hot. I'd probably do 3LPL+3ML with XL280 and 16DHS. It has bigger alpha than 3LPL Blackjack, runs cooler when just shooting the LPL, and can still move at decent 81.3 kph.

You can get 17 DHS if you strip 9 armor from each leg. I prefer higher alpha though, poke less often, win trades more easily.

although it does have better hardpoints than the Jag, i still consider the Rifleman a sub-par Jag over a better BJ simply because it doesn't have JJs

if the Rifleman DID have JJs (and i know it isn't supposed to), then it would be freaking amazing. but it don't, so it ain't

but the IIC does...

Why would you mix ML and MPL like that? Total waste of 2 tons imo, since you cant use the duration advantage of the MPLs as youll need to wait for the MLs to finish burning anyway.. better off bring 6xMLs and using the 2 tons on engine or heatsinks.

I broke down and bought it. Swore I wasn't spending more on this game with the caveat that I might make an exception for a few specific mechs.

You hear that PGI? No more money from me.

Unless bushwacker/uziel/argus.

For higher alpha once you're in MPL optimal range. 0 crits left and the only bigger engine you can fit is 290.

I had those elited "before they were cool".

QKDs to me look like Iconic 80's BT.
