well the main problem is - I want to keep it as original as possible
(for example i can't drop the Machine Guns on my 6R -
WHM-6R

I know we don't have Infantry, a single SRM is senseless, the PPC is unreliable *) and 5 TICS(MG,MLAS,LPPC,RPPC,SRM)+ Alpha won't increase its performance - i can't change it.

Worse enough that i failed my Zeus in running it with 3 LPL and a LBX - but i won't violate the WHM nor the MAD nor the Archer

*) during a test with the WHM-6D (large laser and a ppc in each arm) i had the strange feeling that the laser was able to hit a target when the PPC did not as well as the PPC was not able to clear an obstacle while the laser also hit the target.... i know they have different locations on the arm, but i wouln't expect that the difference is that huge.

Maybe have to test it with torso weapons like the Battlemaster

WHM-6R
I would run 3 TICs, with all the torso stuff bound together

and basically just use them only under 270 meters. You lose some range from the MPL, but not a lot, and past that you should be using the PPCs anyhow, IMO. Now it's 1 tic per ppc, 1 for close range. And and arty SRM4 is about 2x as effective at dealing useful damage as an srm6, so....

and yeah, the PPC seems to have a large diameter projectile, because it clips on everything.

I brawl too much to like Gauss, especially in my torso. And I'm that weird person that get's WAY better results with UACs than std 5s.

I tend to play more ranged fire support (my Catapult training :D ),so I like some stand-off capability. As for the A/C5s, I just enjoy the reliabiity. Two ultras can...CAN do 5 more damage, but tripple A/C5s will do 15 damage where two ultras can do anywhere from 20 ~ 0. I just want to know that when I need to pull the trigger, guns will fire.

Now in a mech with an Ultra not as the main firepower or Ultra Jam Chance quirks, I am more eager equip an Ultra weapon.

well, yeah, unless boating 3 or more, always have solid back up weapons. But golly are those 2 UAC nipples laying down some vicious DPS in conjunction WITH my 2xPPC.

All the locusts. The first mechs I bought were all locusts. The first mechs I elited were all locusts. I was determined to make it work. Then I bought the blackjack arrow and -1x and stopped playing the locusts as soon as I realized that the game shouldn't be as painful as my initial experience led me to believe.

Mist Lynx. I love piloting the thing, but I just cannot put out damage with it unless I resort to an all laser build, which I can't stand (particularly with the longer than normal burn on Clan lasers).

So much of the chassis weight is tied up in random equipment that rarely sees use. Yeah it jumps like an Olympic athlete, can fit ECM, and has a default CAP, but you can't actually mount anything with a punch on it thanks to all that random stuff. To top off it's got a pretty meh engine for a light.

I have a blast piloting it (particularly on Polar, since I can put the Prime variant's entire loadout to pretty decent use) but the terribly low usable weight caps me out at ~300-400 damage since I can't mount a lot of ammo for anything. I might as well hop into my CDA-3M and just do better at everything in exchange for an LRM 5.

Stayed true to my refusal to remove the PPCs, too.

For those wondering about the TAGs in the arms? Couple things:
1) If I don't fill something, the PPCs go to the lower slots
2) Because they do hit terrain a lot, these act as lasers sights, and tell me it they will clear terrain
3) added bonus...I get to paint targets for my team, too!

Not very Meta...but at what point have I ever cared about that?

how much pressure do the thumb buttons take?

Light enough that you don't disturb your aim generally, but not so light you accidentally fire them all the time... a little bit lighter than the main mouse buttons I'd say...

fantastic. Since I have limited grip strength and endurance that is just about exactly what I was hoping. I know the location looks perfect where I shouldn't have to shift my grip at all.

Heck... my mouse will be better quality than my computer, lol.....

I've had mechs like that before, but never fear....come back to it later and you may find your performance greatly increased.

I left mine ppc'd, except for one variant, and I've been doing great in them.

The Mauler is one of my all time favorite mechs....could not wait until I got that. When they dropped, yech, I stunk up the battlefield in them. After grinding them and moving on, I went back to play one one day and absolutely wrecked face in them. Have ever since. In the past, I've had problems with other chasis as well, such as the centurion. Couldn't perform in it at all, but came back to it and have met with good success.

Keep chasing that rainbow bishop!

Always sir!

My first mech was the Founders Hunchback and I used to not be able to drive that worth anything, I actually ignored it for over a year (became a fanatical Centy jock in this time) Tried it out again on a whim 6-8 months before the clan invasion and it just clicked. Post quirks it's the staple of my stable. 600+ dmg and 3+ kills is pretty common in it now.

So maybe at some point, the WHM will just click for me, too.

There are so many in this category for me, it is sad.

Currently? Marauder. For me the freaking Warhammer is a brute, but I can't do half as well in the Marauder.

For me, yeah, the Warhammer. I'm horrible with it, but i'm a heck of a lot better with a mech I never ever liked in TT (or in Crescent Hawk's Revenge) - the Griffin. It looked dumb, it was under powered, it blew up fast.

Now, armed the way i like it, it does damage, though it is still kinda squishy and blows up a lot....

I think though that it isn't that "I'm just bad with Warhammers". There's a velocitation issue as it doesn't move fast enough. There's a weapons tempo issue - PPCs just don't cycle and allocate damage the way many SRM-4As do. I have to lead differently (read: i have to learn to lead targets at all, sinice at under 270m, you don't really need to lead much with srms). There are just a lot of things that are unfamiliar or unpolished in my play that, with wat...about 19 hours of practice, will probably begin to resolve themselves.

I guess it's likd of like going from driving a fun little rear-wheel 4 banger all over the place, and then switching to a big old truck - yeah, the truck looks really nice, and has a metric fuckton of power, but it's going to take a lot of simple "getting used to" in order to get smooth fluid responses out of it. Need to build some synergy.

Same. I fell in love with it in the MW3 intro (my first BT/MW exposure), but then...IT WASN'T IN THE GAME!! I never got the expansions so I had to wait until MW4 to actually pilot one. Was enormously successful in the Trial 'mech (I started two months ago), then bought my own AS7-RS and...nothing.

It's any clan mech for me, but it's the MDD Prime that I feel the worst about.

In the MW3 campaign I ran a lance of 4 Vultures. Ahhh, the days without hardpoint restrictions! I just loved the look and the way it felt. I finally got the 'mech to work by running the 6xCALRM5's, but it doesn't feel TRUE to the Prime. My ennui after buying my MDD has kept me from buying the Orion.

Mine doesn't go back as far as an old TT fav but just from early in MWO's life I used to love piloting my Flame more than any other mech. I was pretty darn good with it too and never ran it with any build other than 4mlas and a Gauss with an XL350 engine.

This, but for my Pirate's Bane.

Ah the glorious Locust. I cut my teeth on the JR7, then went Locust and it was glorious, oh the speed. Then I started working on heavies and assaults and now I go back to a Locust and I'm instadead.

Now this one, I have no nostalgia for it, but I just want to master it. It is so quirky (not quirked) and I want to figure it out because it eludes me. If I break 54 damage in it I'm pretty happy.

Battlemaster, I loved this mech in table top and the look my 4 minis had, it just doesn't look the same in MWO, and I am fine with that. I still wanted to beat the ferro off of my enemys in it, unfortunately I could never find something that I could make work in game.

Also the Black Widow, just haven't found anything I like in it. My 6Rs are probably my best mech though and since lorewise the Natasha's mech was an immaculate stock Warhammer 6R painted jet black I am happy.

Generally, the mechs I actually like are mechs that I do at least decently well in, so I don't really have a big problem with sucking in mechs that I want to like.

There have been a few mechs that I tried to like but ended up hating because they sucked though, like the LCT-1V and HBK-4J; a similar concept I guess but not quite the same since I don't like those mechs now.

Vindicator 1AA without a doubt. Used to feel fun piloting this thing, but I just can't enjoy it anymore. Doesn't help that I now own a 2LPL Shadowcat and that thing shits all over the Vindi.

Here here. I love it death.
There's one variant with a certain loadout that I rock at. But i really wish it could PPC better. But that's more about the issues with PPCs rather than the vindicator. I love how the Vindicator looks. mmm. It's my little soldier.
