2*LPL (should be placed last, to fit in highest mounts)
4*ML
2*SL
AMS
20 DHS
340 STD
It's fast enough to be used as trial. Well protected by near max armor and ams. Cooled by 20 DHS. I know that it will be more effective to trade 2*sl and engine for additional 2*ml, but since it's trial mech, such variety of different range weapons should teach new players to use different lasers for appropriate ranges.

BLR-1S (4x SRM+A, 2x LL, 2x ML, AMS, STD300)
Simple to use yet not meta. Most material are reusable. STD300 is common also.

2x AC5
6x ML
XL400
Who needs another Sniper LL Vomit!
There are two things that make Battlemaster unique - High torso hardpoints and big engines.
My build looks cheesy on paper, but works exceptionally well due to great quirks and mobility. Battlemasters 1G are kinda meh as a frontline, so the key is to flank often, outmaneuver and put to sleep unsuspecting enemies.

Here's a sample of it in action:
Heavier back armor because you should be twisting and turning a lot and spreading damage once you run out of ammo and are finished softening up the enemy. The video has the no-tag variation of it with an extra ton of Ammo which comes in handy.

1ERPPC, 4 Mediums, Triple AC/2 XL350
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...1b6fb5b37d7b679
Admittedly I'm not sure how "good" a Champion build this might when considering it is being used by new players. It can get hot and it requires some facetime to put out damage. But when the enemy backs away from those AC/2's hammering on them it is fun and they do destroy exposed components fairly well.
More realistically for a Champ....
BLR-1G - 1ERPPC 1 Gauss 6 Mediums and Narc for fun... STD300 for longevity
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0f177a1f672159e
Couple the Mediums with either the Gauss for in close work and with the ERPPC for ranged work. Narc'ing people is always good (what else to do with that tonnage and 1 missile slot?). I've had some decent rounds in this one. It can do well enough at range and still contribute decently when things get close. And come on, it's not a Battlemaster if it doesn't have a big PPC on the right arm!!!

PS: Sorry vote for the 1G as a champ if you wish, I don't think the D is a good option for a (C).

I've found this build to be successful for me in the past. Good heat management, decent damage output, lots of armor for sustainability, and a good speed for an Assault mech.
It has effective damage output from just about any range and becomes especially brutal once you close under 300 meters.

That's my favorite BLR build. Sample vids here:

With so many great builds already posted this one just started out as something different. But I feel it really came together with a little tweaking.
The build philosophes:
1) Maximum quirk usage
2) Synergy of effective range between the two weapon types
3) High durability by using a standard engine and tweaked armor values (including the old sacrificial arm trick)
For your review and enjoyment.

Its a balanced build like Battlemasters traditionally were supposed to be as command mechs. Also with an advanced zoom module, you can spot targets well beyond gun range to drop air strikes and artillery. Plays to the mech quirks well, open up with the ER-PPC out at 1782 meters, the Ultra AC/5 at 1320 meters and the LRMs at 1000 meters. And the medium lasers become useful at 648 meters. Its also marginally faster than most assault mechs and holds 14 double heat sink all in the engine spaces. Variation loadouts I experimented with used LB-10X or Gauss Rifles, with smaller LRM launchers. The gauss in particular can be fun as its maximum range pushes past 2.1 kms.

This is my missile boat, and while previous builds of it had smaller engines and MORE LRMs (I've run with up to a combined 70 firing at once) they were slower and lacked close range firepower. I have also used it with 4 SRM6s, two medium lasers and two ER large lasers (again with a smaller engine).

This is my gun fighter build. No ultra jamming nonsense.

It's nice to see someone running the ac/10 as a serious business weapon. The extra damage per ton of ammo helped make it more viable on lighter 'Mechs, but it doesn't hurt here.

Not the highest-DPS BLR out there, sure. But plenty of ammo, relatively fast-firing, and survivable. And equipped for the second LURMpocalypse. I use this one a lot, and it's probably my #2 BLR build behind the 5x ERLL BLR-1G. Shield with the right side, of course. Use the wicked quirks to your advantage. It has the mobility quirks to help it out in a brawl. It has the structure quirks to help it STAY in the brawl longer. It has the laser duration quirk to enhance the already-short burn time of the MPLs. And yeah, why not? A little missile help, too, because who doesn't love their uncle, Artie Surms? NO ONE. That's who.
My humble offering is made. Also, if you could put a one-time Hot Rod paint job on it, that'd be cool A. F.
