It is obvious the direction this game is headed. Russ wants this to be LoL with mechs. If this is what he believes will make the game viable, okay. Just come out and say it though. Stop pretending that this is a Battletech game.

High on life.
As we got closer and closer to Steam release it became more and more obvious what direction Russ has wanted this game to go all along. Notice none of the upcoming changes have anything to do with lore or immersion. Russ talked about these things when he needed the BT crowd money, but it was never where he wanted to take this game and he admitted it last night.

Yes, it is called coolshot.
I can't wait for the QQ when a single light can shut down an assault with the cheapest weapon in game that doesn't require ammo.

People want to shoot robots and blow stuff up, not get bogged down in your BT roleplay crap.

You haven't read much and comprehend less of what I have said. So small words.
The...Battletech...crowd...made...the....game...possible...based...on...the...promise...of...a...Battletech....game.
Need help with any of the words above? I have spaced them out so you can use an internet dictionary via cut and paste.

The commentary is mentioned in other threads and was in last nights town hall. Russ spent ten minutes on flamers, did you listen?

So hopefully both of you together will make up for my support of the game. But I doubt it.

Finally, while I do feel the game needs A LOT more immersion and lore in it, Battletech is more than just robots shooting each other; you've got everything from mines to off-map arrow missile systems and bombing runs from areospace fighters. In short, there's a lot more complexity they can add while still remaining within lore, and some of it is clearly a form of crowd-control or breaking up simple murderballs.

[Self Redact cause pointless] What do you think they are working on this PvE BS for all the lore neck beards and steering wheelers out there for?
Have you ever seen only one Mechwarrior game that conveyed any lore at all in their multiplayer parts? And don't bring up Solaris, an announcer =/= lore!
PGI has made more concessions to the original rules than any MW game before!
And before we see the hard data on the flamer changes, there's absolutely no reason to start throwing a hissy fit like a five year old! Because technically, I can already shut down an enemy mech with flamers, heating it up to 90%, it fires a laser and bam, it goes into shutdown!

Can you imagine the rage people will have if a flammer light, locks up your mech, and the only thing you can do is stand there and get [censored]? You think people complain about LRMs? Wait till flamers actually do something.

It is indicative of what Russ wants this game to become, a FPS for the eSports crowd. This is not a war game. A war game requires context and this game is almost completely stripped of that.

Hope you have gotten that out of your system.
Time will tell. I look forward to your future apology.

There is nothing wrong with esports, if done right. Will PGI do it right? I don't know, but I do know two things about this:
- It's not worth losing one's cool over some general ideas on making flamers useful. Now, if they turn them into "crowd lock-down weapons," we'll have a problem, but we're not there yet.
- Esports or not, the game does need more lore, and I'm not talking about obscure rules, but rather info. Every mech should have an in-game summary of its history and role. Every House and Clan should have similar information in the game. People should not have to wander around the internet to find this stuff, IMHO.
