You're not a special snowflake. The rules apply to you too.

https://twitter.com/...619086878703616

Clans are hurting really badly in CW right now and the population is practically nothing. Its mostly the dedicated groups still playing their respective clans that have perma-contracts.

Honestly if Mercstart went over to one of the practically dead Clans I'd be happy with that (is it Smoke Jag? not sure...), as for Wolf, well we literally just got fed up with the massive ER/LL laser quirks and BJ tanks.

Hoping after this 'change' things will settle down and we'll find a better place for long range and brawling engagements that aren't just LL boats everywhere. For those QQ'ing about the quirk change, they're not gimping you as much as you think. LL/ERLL were shooting INSANELY far cause of the 'general quirk' applied to all energy, or lasers, or etc. If you lower that, but then compensate the SL and MLs with weapon specific quirks, it tend to balance out a good deal. So stop your whining, PGI literally had to un-nerf the supposed 'most OP Clan mech' and its godly laser shoulder, that should say something about current balance.

Unfortunately PGI has still been making kneejerk balancing, lets hope the combination of the general quirk nerf bat and the revitalization of the 'gods of the clans' doesn't bite them in the ***. I'm really tired of OP this and OP that...I just want at least a semi-balanced game to play lol.

In all seriousness.....we have Russ insinuating that we avoid other good groups like 228 on twitter. We have people whining about all the good groups being lopsided all the time. I hear idiot know-nothings talk all the time about how MS doesn't want a fight, they want 'seal clubbings".

We wait, along with everyone else, 30-40 min for a game on multiple nights....then we come up with a solution, maybe......we ASK Russ if he would think this is a good idea. It balances out the queue, making wait times shorter for everyone (including us). It means that we are opposing the current meta, talking clan mechs vs the very strong IS mechs right now, meaning we aren't "metagaming it" or whatever. And it means that we get to fight organized units, including the very strong KCOM, 228 and EMP teams.....not easy wins at all. It also means we club less seals.....

And you are STILL butthurt about it? Really?

LOL

Bad players create their own boogeymen out of good players to justify their own hatreds, then latch onto anything to justify why they think those people are the boogeymen.

I would also like a clear definition of these "handouts" that are being given to MS, other than cbills which everyone can earn equally depending on their own capabilities....

As if somebody was harmed because of this.
It's surely unlucky, but CW clanside was pretty much dead.
Reducing the waittimes for everyone involved is a bad, bad thing.
Some people got serious problems, too.

Simple: Big units have basically wrecked CW for the casual player and PUG. They have also mounted a long-standing campaign to prevent any changes to the format that would reduce seal-clubbing using idiotic excuses such as:
- It's community WARfare - it's not supposed to be fun!
- Seal-clubbing is a vital and realistic part of what makes CW fun (but only if you're clubbing the seals)
- Big units don't want to club seals, it just happens! (Except for the part where they vehemently denounce any changes to the format that would actually, you know, reduce seal clubbing)
- If PUG's just used VoIP or joint a team, somehow they'd all magically become great players and never have to club seals again! (Except that this makes zero sense since the whole problem is caused by teams clubbing seals - joining a team just lets you do the clubbing, which should be boring for anyone over the age of 3.)

This had to be addressed, because I feel the pain is strong in you,
"Big units have wrecked the gamemode, that was designed for them"
Sorry lone starr, the campaign of the big units to destroy CW exists only under your tinfoil.
Almost all big bad units want more competition, not less.
You and the other salty loners will get your way in Phase 3 and let's just hope the population of CW will increase enough to support the lazy solution of splitting the queues. Fun for everybody guaranteed, you will see.

we aren't even concerned about the cost....although why we should pay to even the queue out is beyond me.....but we didn't think a 3 day cooldown made any sense. It would do LITERALLY nothing to alleviate wait times and turret drops.Z

Other than that we got nothing for switching, and we asked for nothing.

I have world firsts under my belt in other games. I was ranked top 16th and 23rd on the West ladder in WC3 TFT (not good enough to go pro, but certainly good enough to play against them on a regular basis). Some of my favorite games as a child were Ninja Gaiden and Battletoads for the NES.

Know what that means in MWO?

Nothing.

So lemme get this straight.

After spending most of CW basically proving that mega units can dictate the entire flow of the map, MS gets to change everything for free after farming all the benefits they wanted from the FRR on this phase.

Seriously, wat the ****. The reason the Clans are down to turret dropping is people fleeing being in front of mega units like rats deserting a sinking ship. This just means the usual tag-alongs will be following shortly.

which is the entire problem in the first place. creating a game mode for less than 10% of the player base is beyond stupid.

now go on and tell me you're right and I'm wrong because I must be a bad player.

Thats ok because community warefare isn't even 10% of this game.

Zing!

Non-unit players are getting their own queue now. Wait times will be longer, as I know there are even good players who don't join units. Happy everyone?

Meanwhile, even if you're in a small unit, just because you're not a premade 12 man doesn't mean you can blame them for 'losing'. Heck, I've lost while in a premade 12 man because 2-3 small groups coordinated and worked well together. There are things called 'Team Chat' and 'VOIP' that you can use, ingame, to talk to those not part of your little corner of people on a voice server somewhere.

Yeah, I can't imagine why anyone would have a problem with that? Posted Image

Then you're not thinking about the situation. IS are consistently dropping into empty games. A big unit sees that without number for clans CW is becoming frustrating and people are avoiding playing. MS offers to mend one of the holes in the boat so long as they aren't penalized for doing so.

You keep beating the dead seal with the "they only want to club seals" bit. However this move would be pitting them against the other large organized teams who are pretty much all chilling with IS atm. Kinda goes against the tired seal you've clubbed to death.

Good intentions, bad execution, poor PR. Also only a very temporary fix at best, though the fact that this even happened might work as a bit of a wake up call... Who knows.

I'd probably just hard cap unit sizes to prevent one or two groups dominating everything. Sure they could still form alliances and whatever, but it'd also create options and reduce gravitational effects. Maybe.

In any case, looks like my plans for going clan for underdog fun will now be scrapped.

but they did get to change faction without paying cbills as far as i understand it. and seeing as they could easily afford it, i find that bit a little unfair.

meh.

Nothing important will happen in CW until phase 3 which is march/april anyway. With a map reset.

Phase 3 is when units can start earning MC and taking planets properly. Phase 3 is (hopefully if they give on their word) when it really matters.

Now is just a beta / who cares time, the queues are ghost drop.

I'd have to see how much revenue those 10% are generating for PGI. If not a lot then ya, bad business. I don't have the data so can't make that call.

Players By Faction:
  • Davion: 1601
  • Kurita: 1477
  • Liao: 614
  • Marik: 678
  • Rasalhague: 1905
  • Steiner: 1740
  • ClanSmokeJaguar: 812
  • ClanJadeFalcon: 1974
  • ClanWolf: 2704
  • ClanGhostBear: 1269
The current unit cap is 512. We know this because SWOL hit it a few months back. The current unit cap is just too large considering some factions had a showing of less than 1000 people at tuk2(during a time when supposedly everyone around would be playing).

With that said, Mercstar currently sits at 415 but its really more like 200. The unit cap or size penalty would have to target deep below 200 to impact -MS-. On the other hand, there are units as big or bigger than Mercstar that are much less active, perhaps not even fielding groups actively anymore. Then there are units like Kcom with ~40 people that play better and twice as often as the typical active -MS- member. It is a very complicated and touchy subject but I want to see it lower than 512.

The bitter baddies are out in force tonight. Upset that the large units left your faction and you can't get free stomps off them anymore? If you gave a damn about faction warfare you'd be glad. I've been bored as hell as an FRR loyalist, with the sides being so damn stacked with solid units and IS ERLL that I just effortlessly roll the enemies 70% of the time. The stacking has been so bad that I filled my drop deck with basic mechs to farm XP, and didn't even bother throwing on modules. It's just THAT easy right now that I just don't have to care. It sucks.

Thank you PGI, for making the adjustment in order to fix the stacking, and realizing that such moves have to be made when things go wrong in a BETA environment like faction warfare. Thank you also to the large units who made these moves(several others have gone as well and it's helping), and not simply letting the faction warfare environment stagnate indefinitely. These pugs crying foul are simply upset that they can't accomplish what you do.
