I don't see anything wrong with this personally. Right now the Clan units are getting absolutely massacred, so if Mercstar wants to go lend a hand for one simple favor in return, what's the harm exactly?

...Why can't they just cancel their contracts in-game?

Because they want Russ to kiss their hand and zero-out the cancelling fee.

Aside from the C-bill penalty a cancel causes a 3 day lockout on CW before you can choose another faction. If PGI wants to get a big unit back on the clan side they absolutely should remove the penalty for it to happen.

No unit no matter how big and powerful should get any special treatment.

Pathetic if Russ pushes this through.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm playing on a fully "released" online game or some crappy little mmorpg private server with free stuff for the owner's mates.

Oh noes a 3 day lock out? And a c-bill penalty, in a mode where you can make a stupid amounts of c-bills? That's just so unfair for a big unit that can distablize faction balance by hopping around from faction to faction...

I say let them no one cares about CW anyways

Maybe they could spice things up

Not to mention penalties imply they are there to dissuade you from hopping factions and breaking contracts/loyalties. This seems like a strange decision. Perhaps they consider CW very much still in testing, and they are allowing this for testing purposes, but that is the only viable reason to provide special treatment.

If they will do it for anyone that asks, sure. Otherwise preferential treatment, or basically saying one unit is more important than any other. Further-est from the truth

In which case can anyone who hopped contracts be given a refund for the "testing" they did?

I'm owed at least a couple million cbills.

Official Mercstar Response

The queues seriously lacked Clan players on Saturday night. We were getting turret drops over and over as FRR. (naturally people voted for a stint in Inner Sphere to play Warhammers)

Rather than suffer through **** queues Saturday-Tuesday we decided to see if Russ wanted to help ease the situation right away.

Turns out he was willing to allow us to insta-swap us to get matches to better kick off. I'm sure he would have been willing to do the same for others.

Some people have been spreading all these conspiracies but they are all downright false.

So, to clarify: big units go wherever they want, ideally to avoid other big units and keep on stomping seals. Now that they are running out of seals and their game mode is dull, they get handed a freebie to "keep things interesting." For who, exactly? Tell me again why a big unit gets special treatment when they are the only ones that benefit from it since nobody else even plays CW anymore? On the plus side, that should end any questions about why poor decisions are made in CW that only benefit the large teams that already auto-win it just by showing up in huge numbers.

So, can I tweet Russ to ask for free stuff, too, if I can include a lame arse excuse as to why it is somehow good for the game when I'm the only person who'd actually benefit from it? Lol... whatever.
