I don't know about "thoughtful" being the European mindset to combat, but the Cold War certainly molded most Western Euro military mindsets into a defensive mentality. Our Eastern European friends certainly seem to be of the aggressive mentality from what I have seen.
As a former Marine, America's "Kick in the Door" force, I'll be the first to admit that I have an overly aggressive play style that can often leave me with my butt hanging in the wind. But, as they say, "Fortune favors the bold." This is usually where I hope I have some Eastern Bloc comrades on my teams in PUG matches, as usually they're right up front charging with me. If you can get a cluster of 5 - 7 friendly mechs working together and rampaging forward with even a hint of coordination in fire, it can be devastating to the enemy team.
