Classic sci-fi fantasy. I'm surprised her nipples aren't showing through the vest.

Also, notice the phallic Marauder in the background with its raised AC5. That patriarchy, man. Destroying our society.

Hey, I've seen some sh*t, but I still wouldn't be wearing underwear to war. Ever burn your naked thighs on leather seats in the summer? Not to mention that mechwarriors, like tank crews, are sometimes forced to leave their vehicle. In that situation, a bullet-proof thong isn't going to help that much!

Ok I give you that. :D

Cooling suits are for the wealthiest, most connected mechwarriors. By lore standards, every single player is a veritable warlord, personally possessing resources beyond even some periphery states (and more than a few have forces equivalent to smaller successor states). Acquiring a cooling suit should be child's play for someone able to muster several battalions worth of mechs.

Looks good but totally unnecessary to waste resources on but PGI gonna PGi.

seriously? That thing needed a re-do for years.

I'd rather have them do this than the 17th quirkening-pass or another mechpack...

Ya seriously. What is next a redo of the mech bay. Things that have no bearing on gameplay being worked on just seems pointless.

Stop right there mister, we do need a redo of the mech bay, something more 3D with people walking around.

Like, why have visual fx at all, man, or like textures, or reflections, or glows. why bother with making trees look like trees? from a gameplay perspective all we need is cylindrical grey shapes as obsticales, just imagine what kind of game we would have today if artists didn't spend their time doodling and actually programmed something AMIRITE?

... Sometimes, it's not always about gameplay. Sometimes it's just nice to be surrounded in a beautiful environment to kill each other in, both inside and outside the cockpit.

It does look better, but honestly, when I think about the time that artist was putting into something I never, ever look at, vs say, all the broken, ill-designed maps...well.

Have to go with the negative side on this one, any time money is put towards something aesthetic over something that actually improves gameplay, makes me hold even tighter to my own wallet. Fix the fluff when we have balanced weapons, no more invisible walls or super pebbles on maps, etc.

I wholeheartedly agree. The old pilot looked like something straight out of Half-Life 1 (you know, from 1999).

Artists work on art, not map / game design. Posted Image

Artists for PGI do indeed do map design, since they lack a dedicated coder. They have been fairly transparent about this fact for a good while now.

Sometimes, it isn't just gameplay. The experience and immersion is also equally important, especially in a games like MechWarrior.

Immersion...hmm, yeah, maybe with less glaring glitches and buggy gameplay, it would be easier to actually be immersed.

However when mechs can't walk over parts of the map too small to even be seen, weapons hit invisible walls, mechs glitch and rubber band all over and through each other when they collide...But wait, my pilot model looks good, so if I look down during any of that, I can still pretend I'm really piloting this mech!

Please...

Lol, listen, I'm not saying they did a bad job, or that aesthetics are totally unimportant, just priorities...we apparently all do not even come close to sharing them.

So go play mechwarrrior 2 and be happy.

It was fine before because most people don't care about it over gameplay. It does look better but is it something that makes an actual difference? Nope.
