40% ballistic cooldown, 20% velocity + 50% accel/decel should lead to a first class guass sniper. Everyone was saying it would be clearly inferior. I don't believe this to be the case.

The Jager brings more ammo and armor but is it really as efficient in the role as the smaller Rifleman?

The quirks have me very excited. If anything the lack of structure quirks are from inherent damage spreading potential.

I thought MWO was done with wild quirks? Or are they that desperate to sell things?

I can already imagine some of the obscene dakka builds that will be coming, and frankly I'm okay with that. Something named Rifleman should be damn good at putting as much lead downrange as possible, after all.

I don't think gauss will be plausible. You'd have to give up too much to fit it on there with a decent amount of ammo. Fast firing AC5s will probably be much better suited. It does have a nice front profile, i hadn't considered getting it before but those quirks do seem pretty nice. Time will tell.

The rifleman has a smaller tonnage available than the jaggermech. You might be thinking of 'ridiculous' when imagining a smaller jaggermech, but it also carries fewer or smaller weapons in comparison. Combined with its lack of durability quirks and you'll come to realize that the Rifleman is more of a glass cannon than the Jaggermech is.

You mean 40% ballistic velocity, 20% cooldown, right?

It's too small for dual gauss, perhaps, but I expect we'll be seeing a lot of single gauss + laservomit thanks to hardpoint inflation.

If the guass charge up was more manageable then I could see an AC2 and Gauss load out. Use the Ac 2 as a tracer and when it starts hitting unload the gauss for a sure hit. Would work like a charm and tanks in RL did that from the start of tanks and likely still do.

Wow, it has insanely overdone quirks to make it not a huge piece of crap.

How exciting and such a great step forward for balance. Posted Image

That's what I thought too with Paul's rather large post about what PGI was trying to do with the great mech re-balance, but they didn't follow through.

I mean look at some of the mobility quirks on the Marauders...sure it makes them incredibly nice to drive but like...40%+ movement speed quirks?

No, seriously... does anyone else notice it's actually 20% cooldown, 40% velocity?

Probably not. they are still afraid of the "OP GAUSS" boogeyman. Tho I will say a single gauss + laterbarf with that thing looks easy to achive.

Call me crazy Alistair, but I don't see any hardpoint inflation on the 3C and 3N. The 3N has exactly the number of weapon hardpoints it comes with in TT.

Only the 5D and Legend Killer have received any appreciable hardpoint inflation. Legend Killer in the lore was pretty much just a bone-stock 3N. Obviously the Hero mech has to have more space for weapons.

The only one I'm not at all familiar with is the 5D.

It'll get nerfed as soon as it goes to cbills, i wouldn't worry.

Legend killer is the only one with decent structure quirks. Looks like there all garbage except the hero lol. So glad I passed on this pack, even though the weapon quirks are decent.

Impressive accel/decel quirks for the non-hero variants, but weapon quirks are very underwhelming. None of the dakka variants (except maybe the Hero) can come close to my triple UAC5 Jager-DD, sadly.

Still, I will need at least one dakka Rifleman now that I need to replace one of my Stalkers with a Mauler in hot CW maps.

Why would I do a stupid thing like that? The RFL has nothing to offer me over either the JM6 or the BJ-1/DC. The cool-down advantage over the Jager is insignificant, while the lead the Blackjack enjoys is far and away superior to either. Energy I can use the Fireprand, or use an entirely better-suited 'Mech like the Jester.

This 'Mech gets a big, fat "MEDIOCRE."

And I say that as somebody who doesn't buy 'Mechs for quirks. It doesn't even look pretty.

The jager was a direct replacement of the rifleman, however in mwo i don't know...... the rifleman might do just as well. i love those looooong arm lasers

You're crazy :)

The RFL-3N is the version that gets 20% ballistic cooldown, which is what you want for gauss. In TT, it has 2LL, 2ML, 2AC5, so 4E and 2B. In MWO, it has 2B and 6E.

That was not my point. I though MWO was done with giant quirks.
