Trust me, people will find a way to twist this into being your fault.

And it will be the OTHER assault pilot that called for the push and got his sissy *** hit once and went running that does it.

I've been PUGing in a Dire Whale today. It's been an ongoing disaster.

Typically, I am with 5 other guys at the front line. There are 3 enemies, easily killable, just around the corner. So we start to move forward.

And then, suddenly, I'm the only guy there. The 4 friendlies got shot once, backed off and are now running away, leaving me to get focused down solo by the 3 enemies we could have easily killed.

And so I die with 250 damage. And I have to watch as the team hides, fails and loses. And I point out in chat that we could have easily won the match if people had just grown a set of balls and fired their weapons instead of cowering behind cover.

*******.

Welcome to my world as a solo queue PUG specialist :P

The next step in your evolution is to wait for the other team to push into your teammates, knowing your teammates will run away, and then step in behind the enemy mechs that are rushing forward and celebrate International Women's Day.

I try my hardest to stay out of the group sandbox so they can have their tryhard game time while I have my fun time in solo.

I read the whole post.

This right here? This shows me you have a VERY misinformed idea of what groups in the group queue are like for the most part.

I understand what you're saying in regards to others trying to tell players what's "good" and what's "bad", but you've got this misconception that it has something to do with groups. It doesn't. That's what gets under my skin a bit.

The mentalities you're talking about ahve absolutely nothing to do with groups, or the group queue

The people in this post go against what you are saying though. Those that are shoving meta down peoples throats are group junkies at heart. I understand that you and others that play in the group queue may not be like that, and to paint those peeps with the same broad brush is kind of bull, you are right, but they seem to be loudest and mark that queue, and those people, as meta tryhards. I will refrain from calling out the group queue as a tryhard queue, but in the end, I stay out of the group queue because I do know that it is more expected in that queue to follow the meta game, and rightly so. Though you may not like it, there is a separation as types of fun between solo and group queues. Sure I join the group queue with my family when we get a moment to play with one another in game, but when I do it, I do my best to ensure that I use my builds that are more accepted in that queue. Nothing ruins a gaming night more than hearing someone berate you the whole game after they are the first to die because you brought a non meta weapon in the group queue.

I used to be part of Clan Nova Cat alpha run by Pariah Devalis and crew, I understand the group queue, they were a great teaching clan, I miss them deeply, and they are proof that the mentalities that I speak of are not synonymous with the group queue as you stated because they were more accepting of casuals than many others. Again though, many in this thread are so overbearing they make me forget that sometimes.

if this seems like a diuretic rant that makes no sense, please forgive me, I just got off a 12 hour shift and am having a hard time putting my thoughts in a row through my sleep deprived brain lol.

Trust me, there's just as many in the solo queue on the opposite end of the spectrum.

"Might want to look into adding a little more ammo for that build"
"Screw you! (insert string of curse words like some 7 year old that just discovered dirty words) I do what I want you meta tryhard!"

Simply because you tried to offer some advice to another player.

It's got nothing to do with the queue or groups or solos, it's got to do with the individual just being a dbag most times.

"Can I offer some advice on your build?" goes a hell of a long way. That or just not worrying about it. The only thing I tend to mention is the minimum weapon ranges when it looks like someone doesn't know about them (repeatedly firing, not just an oh-**** spasm)

Some of us actually WANT to help new players especially though ;)

and I agree, the WAY you say something makes a big difference.

I see some on the forums complaining that "PUGs never listen".

Then I see them in game yelling, cussing, and otherwise just being someone I wouldn't listen to if my life depended on it and wonder WHY nobody is listening to them.

"Push the f***ing hill you bunch scrub losers!"
is a lot different than
"If we push over the hill we've got a good chance of winning"

I've seen several times through this thread where the comment declares the Assaults are supposed to be at the center of a push...absorbing and dishing out damage for the team. Problem I have with that statement is that my short experience in this game shows in most matches the "team" forgets about the Assaults as they NASCAR to some pre-ordained suicide location on the various maps. Even when the Assaults are being swarmed, they're left to flounder. I've had several speedsters state I should not have been out of position...well at 48kph I never really got into position. And if you do survive to the front they want to criticize your build? And guess what...they're usually critcizing from the back seat, as in their dead! Nothing like a ghost back seat driving your rig. Now I have had some very helpful ghosts...not as many as I'd like but, hey what cha gonna do, they're already dead.

If you're in my back seat, you messed up. You might have the best build of your variant of mech but you're lacking in patience, tactics, skill or luck. I don't blame others for all my misfortune...just a few of them. I, like many others, have plenty to learn and tweaking our mechs in various, and sometimes ridiculous builds, then jumping into the fire is how we will learn first hand what does and doesn't work. As "experienced" players, you should be helping others learn to play "first" as a team...which includes all the mechs that arrived on your drop, then you can discuss how they could do more with better options on their mechs. Berating other players for not thinking like you will in no way make them better players...only friendly support and experience can fix that.

if you're going 48 in most assaults, that is Too Slow

I think maybe one of the good Mauler builds is that slow, unelited

As you move up in tier, getting left behind in NASCAR situations will happen less often (it will still happen though) and the ability of certain assaults to push (like an Atlas) becomes more valuable

I have watched some upper tier play and and agree that it is more team centric and someday I'll be there. Also, yes 48kph is slooowww and I have swapped engines, std and Xl which brings on a whole different level of criticism...lol. I know you can make various mechs do what you want...but the point of the game is to work as a team to get everyone to where they need to be to support the mission...despite what clunker they may have pushed onto the playing field. You will never get the perfect team unless you make your own and dictate what they can bring...and you may still get rolled by chance. Much of this game is learning to succeed despite the imperfections inherent in the code, connections and the people. And the most important part of all this is connecting with the people, commonly called players. If enough people are discouraged into leaving the game it all ends...no such thing as a team of one. You can have great graphics, maps and action...but a player base that is overly rude and unwelcoming can turn new victims, I mean players, off really quick. We want more players out there. The more players we have oline, the shorter the match up times should be and the sooner we can get to blowing up multitudes of mechs.

Thanks, I've actually been running several. My first have been the KGC's (000B and 000 at present working to get the 3rd to master them up) and my stats are fairly good with those considering my short time playing. I've mastered the Cicadas, currently running Marauders (almost have them all leveled at std). Then, a Pirates Bane and LCTM, Hunchback IIC, and JR7 IIC-A. I enjoy the extremes best, assaults and lights. My focus lately has been the Marauders.
