Given that the urbie has been given it's place in MWO for it's history and nostalgia.... can we please, please have the Chameleon already?

For those of us who began with the hex battletech and then the c64 crescent hawks inception this is perhaps one of, if not the most, nostalgic mech.

50 ton laser boat. Wouldn't be bad, looks like alex would need to give it some serious loving though.

Doesn't the "prime" variant of the Chameleon , the one used in Crescent Hawk, violate the construction rules?

i wrote a suggestion a looooooong time ago that everyone should get a free Chameleon on their new MWO account that would require a tutorial to elite instead of leveling the old fashioned way, just to get new players started

Yes, there are some sentimental feelings towards the Chameleon. Actually, I was extremely pleased when I managed to escape with that 'Mech in BattleTech: Crescent Hawk's Inception.

I have nothing against that 'Mech, I am not sure if modelling that 'Mech would be worth the effort.

And there are some very similar 'Mechs (50-ton laserboats) in MWO:
  • CRB-27sl Crab
  • CN9-AL Centurion
  • HBK-4P Hunchback
  • TBT-5J Trebuchet

But also, it is possible to differentiate all those mechs using very different quirks, cooldown/structure/heat eff./range/speed/etc.

I'm afraid I need to quote you. Because that idea is amazing! A mech designed as a trainer, being given out to new players, so they can train in. Mind blowing!

Edit: Also, the only variant that appears to break construction rules is the:

TRC-4B

"A formerly common but now obscure training 'Mech, the TRC-4B was armed with one Large Laser, two Medium Lasers, four Small Lasers and two Machine Guns. With only 10 normal heat sinks this 'Mech was quite prone to overheating. As manufactured, this 'Mech is perhaps the only Level 1 official (if not canonical) design with 3 critical spaces of equipment installed in the center torso, (two Machine Guns and half a ton of ammo), in violation of the design rules released with it. Additionally, as released, a quarter ton of armor remained unallocated."

Sarna is wrong. That 'Mech is okay.

Cheers to the OP for even remembering the Chameleon (which the OP misspelled), I also remember that mech, though the ones I'd still like to see in MWO are the

MON-66 Mongoose
HCT-3F/5S Hatchetman (Not holding my breath for this one, would be silly until they add melee mechanics)
EXT-4D Exterminator
THG-11E Thug
ANH-2A Annihilator

Also wouldn't mind Harmony Gold allowing a MWO version of the Phoenix Hawk and Crusader to be made.

I get the feeling that any mech wielding a pistol or rifle will not get modeled like that way....

I get a feeling that had there not been any unseen problems, that this mech might not have ever existed, as its load out is very similar to the Phoenix Hawk and is easier to pilot.

Its a nice mech I would get it, but its not close to being top of my want list at the present time

The Chameleon has been produced since 2510. It was originally used by the S.L.D.F.

Actually, the one in the 3055+ Technical Readouts was a refit of the original. The original Chameleon was a Star League era mech that was lost. The one in the later Technical Readouts was a revival of that design, not a new mech altogether.

Edit: martian, you beat me to that response.. lol.. but we both knew it was an old Star League mech..
