Meh, formatting got messed up in that copy/paste, but basically, the event hadn't started at the time of your posting, but yes, that part is for everyone.

Quite frankly, you are not describing a "general Tier 5" problem then but your usual personal scheduling problem. I have a hard time seeing that as something that affects the majority or even a sizable minority of players on a regular basis.
30 games take about 7-8 hours to complete and it takes really, really ineffective play to not manage the event in those games unless in addition to getting bad results you also play Lights exclusively. I think for nearly everyone outside your very specific scheduling issue it is a very reasonable time investment over four days that include the weekend. And this is the worst case scenario in time required.
At reasonable stats in a heavy or assault (W/L around 1, average scores around 150, average damage over 300, 1-2 KMDD and 3-4 Assists per game) I am guessing it will be done in 10-15 games. So maybe 2 or 3 hours.
I wish they were doing that well. They get a fair share of assists, but rare killing blows and/or KMDD. Also, they're mostly in Assault Mechs. It's impossible to talk them down to lights, because of how easily they get killed in Assaults. The teams they've been with keep running off and leave them out to die. When they are able to keep up, problems with fine movement control is their worst enemy. Thus, my estimates that 'Tier 5' players need a hell of a lot more time.

Extending the event dilutes that effect and the small player base spreads more evenly over the week.
None of the rewards are more than "nice extras" or some vanity items. I am just assuming that you all enjoy playing the game for the sake of playing the game, rather than for the joy of grinding out extra rewards.
And that joy is still there even outside the events and their rewards.
All three of us do enjoy the game for the fun it brings. We have found however that we enjoy it even more when we complete events and collect everything, due to that "I made it!" feeling that comes with reaching the finish line in time. Must be something to do with being new and still needing everything we can get at the moment. Probably worth noting... We are all F2P'ers. And BTW, I'm not asking for these events to run for like 2 weeks, just for a short day or two longer than they happen to be.

They have grouped up before, but they don't group up often. But if their mileage is anything like mine on most days, it won't help. Getting abandoned by the team all running off ahead of a slow Dire Wolf is pretty much a recipe for sabotage, both for them and the team. I've even told them to communicate when playing, and they just can't get their team to stay in touch. So they've pretty much learned to give up on team comms and grouping, even though it's supposed to be the key to success. To heck with them finishing any time fast, we just need more time...

As mentioned, I am fairly certain that from PGI's point of view one of the main reasons for these events is to concentrate their player base to a certain part of the week. If that part of the week is six days long, then it will probably not have the desired effect at all.
It certainly fits the pattern of having an event every week that can be reasonably completed in 3-10 hours play time and only running for about half that week.
Some advice to being left behind:
Consistently vote for less mobile Maps like HPG Generator, Frozen City and River City. These usually give you a chance to catch up with the team once the action starts. Avoid wide Maps with a lot of movement like Polar Highlands, Alpine and Forest Colony.
In terms of Skill and practice:
When I was starting out a few weeks ago what helped me the absolute most was to turn down mouse sensitivity to 0,2. It allowed me to actually start hitting things. If you haven't tried it you will not believe the difference it makes.
Beyond that, if they have trouble I'd recommend trying out some of the more "aimfriendly" aka "scatter" weapons like Artemis SRM6 or Pulse Lasers which you don't have to keep on Target as long and go for more medium to short ranged builds.

Medium/heavy mechs that can keep up with the bulk of the group should be fine. And they're usually much cheaper in c-bills.

Wow, I haven't even started.
Me neither. Overtime at work + plus cold = not a great start to the challenge, lol. I'll put some time in tonight, and I'm just glad I got a little bit of levelling in earlier in the week so I'm not wasting the first day just getting basics unlocked.

[EDIT: If I'm having this much trouble, I hate to think how hard it will be for that other MechWarrior down in 'Tier 5' to do the event. They usually take twice as long as me to finish, and usually fail to finish because of that.]

Like others have said, I fail to see how this is a tier problem. I'm also Tier 4 and I didn't notice much difference between 4 and 5 as far as difficulty in completing challenges. One thing I have noticed is there tend to be more "high dps" builds that show up during these events, which is why simple mistakes can get you pulverized very quickly. You win some, you lose some, but you always try to keep learning more regardless.
That being said, I also fail to see how everything that goes wrong for you is PGI's fault. People have offered to help you with build advice multiple times in your previous rants and you've refused help. I wonder if either A) you don't want help, because it's easier to whine all the time than actually try to do something to improve, or you're just trolling for suckers (like me) who are going to try to banter with you.
Either way, the "woe is me" and "I'm entitled to an easy I-win button" attitude all the time won't help your situation.

This is a pretty quick event, should take about two nights for casuals to get all the rewards.

Gonna disagree with you here. A newer player should pilot whatever they feel works for them. If you are piloting something you hate, then you will most likely perform poorly. I have long been a fan of having newer players start in lights or mediums, but my first point takes priority over that. Pilot what you love.

In defense of D V on this one, I do see a lot of veteran players that are stuck in the lower tiers. We never got the tier calculator, or we must have truly played poorly back then. Newer players that are coming in may run into them from time to time. I wish they would reset the tiers, and give everyone a new calculator. I hope there would be a push of players that are bogged down in tier 4 and 5 to get to 3 and 2. It is hard to dig your way out of a hole.
