I have Aspergers myself.

While there have been one or two juvenile idiots who have latched on to that thinking that insults somehow lessen me, or empower them, by and large I cannot say I have found it to have much impact, game to game, match to match or here on the forums.

I'm sure it had impacted my interactions, since I tend to be stubborn unless someone can actually prove me wrong, and I sometimes have trouble staying on the same page with conversations and debates, because neurotypicals seem so slow to update ideas and move on, getting caught in peripheral and pointless minutiae, and generally unable to see "big picture" how concepts interconnect and and interact.

So yes, I can find people frustrating, since logic and efficiency tend to be lacking both in game and on the forums.

But in spite of that, I can't say I am comfortable with aspergers being used as a catch-all shield, justification and excuse for all behaviors. Obviously on the spectrum we have all sorts of different perspectives, triggers, foci (mine tends toward the art assets), but even so, were are still responsible for our actions and words.

So while we indeed do see things, on the real world and the virtual through a vastly different lense than most of those around us, and one would hope for some degree of consideration from all toward those who may be wired different, be it because of autism, culture, etc, we are just as responsible to try to accommodate those around us who don't share our gift/burden/perspective.

It's no more their fault they seem illogical and slower to process data than it is ours we are slow as a general rule on all forms of social uptake.

Accommodation goes both ways.

The way I grew up seems to rub a lot of people the wrong way and I've had people ask me if I was autistic or had AS because of how I interact with people.

I grew up on "to call a spade a spade" and "say it like you mean it."

Which means I often upset people. If someone is being a f***wad glue-eater, I let them know they're being a f***wad glue-eater. If someone asks for my opinion on something, I give them an unfiltered opinion without any dulling wording regardless if it may upset/trigger/offend/anger.

And that makes me come off like an *******. I don't do it to be mean, I was raised by pragmatic family where the nuances to communication are irrelevant. Be blunt, be concise, be simple, leave no room for misunderstanding.

On the flipside, I'm a huge people person and very much a social butterfly. And the two cliches earlier go both ways. If someone has a great idea or does a great job, I let them know that "hey, you did a fantastic job/that's a great idea!"

I have this same issue as well, I was never accused of mental illness, just being an *******. :P

But i tell it like it is because anything else is just a waste of time honestly. I dont see a point in pussyfooting around and sugar coating the stuff. The world isnt so why should my words? and in turn if you did a good job im gonna say something about it. Told an employee today about how thankful i was for them going above and beyond the call of work. They deliverd an item when it wasnt even there job because they lived fairly close by. Wasnt their responsibly, was mine actually but i made a point to say thanks and even bought her lunch.

I dont go out of my way to be a ****, or i try not to, but i totally understand where you are coming from. The world today has too much worry for everyones feels honestly, grow a pair, speak up and tell me how you feel dammit because im gonna do the exact same thing!

it all makes sense now. I will never ever get annoyed by your quibbles over minor mech details again.

seriously.

Actually, please do. I may be didactic and laser focused but it's healthy to have it pointed out when I'm too immersed. Aspergers is a fact of life, but it should not, not do I desire it to be an excuse or shield to hide behind.

But I do thank you for your consideration. Just realize that it is my works view and not some personal attack or vendetta that drives most of my disagreements with people.

i have armor. but mental health officials dont like armor. this merely means that at some point in the future, and when sufficiently provoked, years of pent up anger and aggression come out through a pair of brass knuckles into some poor sod's face. what they want is crazy people to be weak, so they can be used as society's scapegoats, and be exploited for cheap labor and other things. we are essentially the reject class.

An intresting one. I enjoy reading it. But for the IQ Thing, could you be so polite to post the percent Rank instead of blank Numbers.

140, 170, 200 may sound nice for an 0-150 Scale but whats if it is on an 0-300 scale? Ya see? Something like 99.873 % would be more helpfull to me to get the Numbers straigt.

But well, i guess they dont matter as much. nvm.

Just yell at the pugs like a drill sergeant. If that doesn't work, give up and go play another game. It usually does work... if you play during North American prime time hours of 8 PM EST - 1 AM EST.

Well it takes a bit more than yelling though after seeing you in River City, you do have that more. Posted Image

I'm not sure what will happen to this thread soon. We need to discuss this and we'll see.

Nonetheless I needed to unapprove some of the worst posts. Please do not post off-topic comments and try to turn this into a troll thread. Moderators will keep an eye on this thread.

Aspergers is a "mental disease" with no known causes and no confirmed mechanism of action. For all intents and purposes it is a list of symptoms that gets classified as an ASD. In other words, there is no telling if one is suffering from neurological problems or is just a jerk with limited interests and poor motor skills.

Hence, people will usually assume that you're the latter. And if you cannot modify your behavior to become a team player and not subotage team morale with your attitude or word choice, team sports (or any sort of team-based entertainment) is not for you.

Its not cherry picking anything, i gave the OP a bit of Forum advice, its nothing against him and he doesnt need you to come to his rescue im sure. I dont care about anyone else here, The OP and I have had a run in before (under his other name) and i choose to try to give him some advice. You can get butt hurt over it if you want, i find it funny actually that you THINK i was cherry picking when in all actually i just didnt want to see the OP's post get delted.

Settle down sport, i wasnt here to tell the whole thread to behave, i was here to give the OP a bit of help on HOW TO and HOW NOT TO with these forums. But again, keep handing out nuggets of wisdom from high atop mount judgement.

He may choose to take it into corroboration of he can ignore it, no sweat off my back and it shouldn't be any worry of yours that I didn't wag my finger at the whole entire thread. Thats not my job, but i can give advice if i see fit.

Whats even better is i log on today and see post from moderators and guess which one got deleted?

So this is someone using an alt account to announce he is a genius with Asperger's, then within an hour decide to start a new intentional troll thread and put a troll post in this one?

Now it would seem like there's something a little fishy afoot. Luckily Revis is too nice of a guy to name and shame your main account.

Many who join online communities suffer from various social, mental, and physical health disorders. It allows socializing without having the anxiety of socializing many times.

The OP never asked or demanded anything from anyone in his post, he merely wanted to bring it to the attention of the community.

With that said, this might be better suited for off-topic area

Yes the minority can ruin things for the majority. It works this way in real life as well. For MWO, my advice would be to disable VOIP unless they are friends of yours, keep on playing and improving, and most of all remember its just a game your playing for fun. Learn to keep some perspective and balance with things.

So stop caring what others think. I've played this game for a very long time, yet I suck. In part because I've been playing games long enough to have fathered most of you guys. So I occasionally get told I suck, and sometimes I apologize because I made a bone headed mistake. Other times I give it right back because whiny crybabies who aren't as good as they think they are are toxic to the community.

Point being, control what you can control. Then deal with the rest. Told a friend of mine recently you're an eagle. WhyTF are you listening to crows?

I asked in a very nice way not to derail this thread and/or post other unconstructive stuff. This thread is about a serious disease. This isn't the place to make fun out of it.
Now it's not only a request anymore. Sanctions incoming. Stay on topic or stay out of this thread.

One note:

As a person on the Spectrum.

Aspergers, and the Autism Spectrum as a whole, is a condition, not a disease. It is not communicable, cannot be "caught" nor "cured".

It the purest sense all people are on the Spectrum, but the degree is so minor as not to "register". Those on the spectrum are those with pronounced tendencies and identifiers.

I would be happy to provide links to educational material about the condition itself, and the contributions of many famous HFA to anyone interested in learning more.

Thank you for your maturity and understanding.

You are cherry picking, not my problem if you do not like it.
Nowhere did I come to anyone's rescue, fantasize too much? If you cannot handle following your own advice, that's your problem and people have as much right to point it out as Forum advice as you claim to have.
So you had a 'run in?' Sound like this is more personal feud nonsense with you than advice giving. Planning a drive by next?
'Butt hurt,' another Internet fantasy.
I find all this fantasizing from you hysterical that you paint yourself the 'victim' yet another popular arguing fantasy.

Stick your settle down since all I did was the same as you, you just don't like being the target since you, not I, are pretending to sit on the highest peak of judgement.

Giving advice is not your special little privilege here despite your lame attempt to make it sound like it is.

So please explain to me what you just did in this text?

You are trying to give me advice.. on my advice.

Take a look in the mirror bud.

You really have no idea what you are talking about when it come to this pilot and my previous experiences with him. I'm not a victim, stop trying to sensationalize what i did and stop putting words in my mouth. i pointed him towards the rules in hope that he would curb his behavior(or make him aware) before moderation had to AGAIN get involved with his posts.

Claiming i want to bring physical harm? A drive by? I guess thats funny to you because you dont live in a place where literally being outside smoking a cig alone this could happen. Maybe come hang in my hood for a few days and realize drive bys aren't a joking matter.

I will no longer speak about this with you on this thread since it off topic, if you would like to continue it PM me.
