The difference between a noob and a vet is that the vet always has a plan, like trying to get in a good position, but things beyond your control still happen. Started on Viridian Bog east side today, in a HBK-4P, and ran for the C4/D4 high ground with an ACH. We caught a Shadow Cat that had jumped up there from the west side, and he died due to no fault of his own. Sure, he could've just rolled with the deathball and been safe in that situation, but he died for what was a pretty low-risk move just because something random happened.
An experienced player wants to make an impact which also means dealing with certain degree of risk. The better you are, the more accurately you're able to assess any given situation. The opposite is timid players who are afraid to fight, and ultimately lose games due to having such a low impact when it matters. And yes, anybody can make dumb mistakes but with experience that becomes an exception rather than the norm. You put 24 players in a game and someone is bound to fk up, no matter good they are.
Actually, that's how I feel the progress of a player goes. A new player will just suicide a lot due to lack of experience. After learning all the ways you can die, the player becomes more careful, but overly so. Then, over time you start dialing in the aggression once you learn which risks are worth taking. I'm currently trying to learn light mechs. They're quite tricky because you want to be roaming to be most effective, but still have to remember you're not a separate entity from your team, your leash is merely longer due to greater speed.
Well said. It's all about positioning and knowing the right time to risk. Even then you take a chance, and might get picked off.
We've all had sh-t games, losing streaks, but if you're worried about W/L in MWO, you might be playing the wrong game.

also since we are posting pointless EPEEN screenshots

Well now I've got an excuse to post one of Fridays games. 1002 in a Cicada with only basic skills unlocked.
The King Crab and I managed to turn a 6-2 game around and kicked some serious arse.

To be honest a couldn't care less about stats and just play for fun. I pilot all sorts and don't really care about the meta and yet somehow I do alright and have made it 25% through T2. Winning is great and all but the stats don't really matter in the end, it's just a game

Every game I've played this weekend, has had idiots refuse to group or even press R.
I solo 100% and I don't play with or against idiots. It's probably your play style that gets you in trouble.
People are always quick to put the blame on teammates.
My KDR was 1.96 before PGI started nerfing the Clans. Now I'm holding steady at 1.70.
Team play was never really the problem. The Clan nerfs did me in.

Win/Loss and KDR are the holy duo of meaningful stats in MWO. However, matchmaking and just stupid people in general decided to tank me today and basically netting me 8 consecutive losses

Spoken like a true Stat Warrior.

I guess no one cares enough to make the effort. In a way not posting it is just as good as posting it.

I think it's more constructive to the game community to be nice to the new players having a tough time, don't you think?

I think its more effective to slap someone in the face with a fresh tuna if they come to the fish market looking for beef flanks.

"Sry bruh, the Beef stall is one block over." And nobody gets hurt...
Nope, tuna right to the side of the dome. Either they get the idea or they don't, if its the latter then they just need to learn to like fish for dinner.
