Exactely what I mean: looks childish.
That it exists (more like "existed") in Battletech is not a strong argument.
I remember when the Griffin held a Sword in Crescent Hawk's Revenge.
Since then, melee more and more disappears from Battletech.
Just look at how many games included melee compared to how many did not.
Why: because it's childish. It doesn't fit respectable war mashines.
It is a children's fantasy.
What are you talking about? Melee has always played an important role in battletech and its fiction and its continued on for years in both the novels and the universe. (some would argue too much.)
Melee as a bipedal tank was never ideal in MW games, but just like CQC in infantry fighting is important, so has Melee always been in battletech. It never disappeared after Cresent hawks, and there are tons of instances in the fiction where a good swift kick to the face changed the universe forever. (Its how Natasha Kerensky finally bit the big one.)
Its never been the MAIN aspect of BT, and even the Close quarter specialists where just that... Specialists. But to say it had no active role in the universe post cresent hawks games is just a flat out lie.
