Lots of us are for sized hard points.

Tabletop and fps could work together far more closely but it requires realizations that most don't seem to see. TT is a summary of events in each 10 seconds not a literal Bible. You can make any 10 second period fit into TT, and you can flesh out 10 second instances from TT into real time when acknowledging TT as a summary.

Too many people take TT's rated use summary of a weapon as what it must do. Example any medium laser. One pew and 5 damage? Pfft... Actual rated firepower (5 damage) is in megawatts but descriptions are in megajoules which are smaller much smaller amounts, and tallies of shots come out to the full power. So one shot and one hit in TT is actually several shots and hits but who has time to make a dozen plus rolls of the dice for every time you use 3 or 4 lasers? Imagine if you had 3 mechs? Imagine 12 mechs per player now. Thus the summary. Pgi didn't clue in and so we have insanely high alpha damage and very high heat thresholds.

Far as catapults my favorite too.

Often unknown catapult facts.
Catapults are based on the MLRS. Tabletop's grids are as well as is minimum range. Look at MLRS stats. 30 and 180 come up in meters. Accurate to 30 meters and 180 minimum range.

Catapults come in two forms. Squat (classic short leg) and stilted (extra long legs).

Despite frequent depictions the actual size of the body of the original design is that of a full size "Ford transit van". The 2015 model is a pretty accurate comparison. Mind you that room is consumed by the engine ammo and such. The missiles could fit our FIM92 stingers, and there is 192 per ton which includes storage bin and feeder equipment.

The catapult is one of many mechs that doesn't have torso twist in BT. Much like some tanks do not feature turrets. Specifically, the legs are mounted directly to the body.

Just a point.

I've got over 2500 matches and have played for seven months. I have 39 mechs, most heavies, all through elites. In fact, they're mastered but for one RFL-5D I'll finish today, two Urbies I probably will never get to, and three of the five Dragons I own that I just haven't got there with yet. Most dropped-in single mechs are a Catapult Jester with just over 200 drops and a Victor Dragon Slayer with just over 150. In third place is a Summoner Prime (Invasion variant) at about 130. Since PGI released the Marauder and Rifleman I have run them almost exclusively other than taking out my meta Timber Wolf C champion I won in the October event for running with my unit in group queue. I mastered the TBR and my Zeus 9S2(L), and several other hero mechs I have, by buying Cbill variants after earning the Cbills in solo queue, group queue, and in CW, then stripping them and selling them after getting their basic skills unlocked.

I'm still a noob. Still learning. If you stick with it, things get better over time. MWO has a vertical learning curve and five months ago I had a kill/death ratio of .17-when PSR started I was literally at the bottom of Tier 5. I'm now a quarter of the way through Tier 4 and at .68 k/d. I joined a unit, made some new friends, and stuck at it. And it's getting to be more fun over time. My favorite overall chassis is the RFL, so you can see I tend toward the mechs that are hardest to run and do well in.

The ZEU is a good mech, as many have said, but it needs to be mastered and moduled fully before it realizes its full potential. It's smaller in size than other assaults but not as tanky and is best at midrange brawling. I use mine as an LRM skirmisher, with two ERLL and a uAC5 as its backup weapons. When we had 265 ton CW dropdecks it led my deck in IS vs IS fights. If you want to run the ZEU, you need to earn the Cbills to buy two more. I recommend the 5S and 9S, because they have a solid ballistic left arm. I used them to unlock my 9S2(L). You have to basic out three mechs of one chassis type in the Skills tab on your home screen before you unlock Elites for that chassis. Full Elites doubles the bonuses endowed by Basic skills. When you have three mechs in the weight class Elited, you can unlock the Mastery slot, which awards an extra module slot. Modules are expensive in Cbills but award more quirks like increased weapon cooldown rates or range, or abilities like radar deprivation that breaks sensor lock when you leave the enemy line of sight (a must) and seismic sensor (another must) that lets you see mechs nearby on your sensors that are under ECM or are outside line of sight.

All these things take time to earn. If you dig big stompy robots stick with it and you'll do better over time. I play this and Armored Warfare, and I have spent real money here...I enjoy AW very much for its PvE modes but I don't play it too often and haven't spent money there. Why? No big stompy robots. Full stop.

I meesed up big, I bought a zeus with my starting credits, its was awful! Trying to save up for a Kingcrab is a nightmare! This game has some awesome players and I've really enjoyed the teamplay aspect but the prices in the store are truly outrageous and seriously off putting! $240 dolars for a few mechs and a couple month game time man you guys are having a laugh, 10-20 bucks just for one mech! hahaha!!!

I really have enjoyed playing the game though but this pay store has ruined it and my noob mistake at the start of buying and kitting out a mech was obviously a big one(its what it was about though) so thank you for revamping a old game that I once loved, you did an excellent job on the gameplay, I like the weapons and differences between the mechs, the players in most part seem friendly all in all you've released a pretty fun game.

I may of bought a couple of mechs even though im not a fan of stores if the prices hadn't been outrageous, if you'd dropped the store I most certainly would of paid 6-8 quid a month for membership and the extra content.

Thanks for the memories, its been fun and ill no doubt return but this store problem will mean I am only ever casual and the chances of loosening my purse strings are pretty much gone.

Dude, the game is F2P and the best model of such I've seen. I'm sorry that you made a poor choice on selecting your Mech, but that's your own fault for not doing your research on the forums first. Personally, I like the Zeus although I do recognize that it's not a particularly competitive Mech.

To cop and attitude and claim that the game is P2W though is really poor of you. Shoot, I was in on the ground floor in Closed Beta via the lottery system and played up through Open Beta and even a bit beyond that before I opened my wallet. I had no problems competing as a completely F2P person during that time.

Don't blame the game for your mistake; own up to it. There are a lot of people in MWO that would love to help a new player like you, but we don't like bad attitudes or blame shifting.

the tutorial should really advice beginners to NOT buy assault mechs. they are the hardest class to play, and it's easy to get tricked into thinking the heaviest is the best.

and OP can always start over with a new account. or just use the trial mechs, some of them are quite good

The Zeus is a monster if built correctly. I think you should give it more time and take some advice from this thread.

Everyone said what really needed to be said. I'll just echo juxstapo. Add me, and contact me if you need help grinding C-Bills, or upgrading your Zeus. (clan omnis are the only ones that can run stock loadouts with decent performance, because they come pre-upgraded with DHS).

Zeus remains one of my least favorite heavies, the only variant I like is the triple SRM brawler variant, all other just don't perform well enough. So I feel you bro. Just sell it and get something like a Timbie or a Jaguar.
