Well... I was hoping to put together a good post of some decent data to share, but people don't seem to be very forthcoming with their stats. :/ Comon guys, post some numbers so I can add to my averages and get some REAL numbers! I'll post what I've got so far (with only 5 people posting, and most not posting all of their stats...).

Weapon----%1--%2--%3--%4--%5----Avg (# collection points)
LRM5-------28---42---?----50----?-----40 (3)
LRM10 -----31---43---?----48----?-----41 (3)
LRM15 -----23---40---?----47----33----36 (4)
LRM20 hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
CLRM5 -----?---- ?---66----? ----? -----66 (1...)
CLRM10----?----52---50----?----?-----51 (2)
CLRM15----?----45---39----?----?---- 42 (2)
CLRM20----?----?----34-----?----?---- 34 (1...)
------------------------------------------------------
ML----------84----?----44----?----?----64 (2)
LL-----------83--- ?----49----?----?----66 (2)
LPL---------83----?----59----?----?----71 (2)
------------------------------------------------------
UAC5-------50----70----77--?----?----66 (3)
Gauss------66----71----?----?----? ---66 (2)
AC/20------ 62--- 72----49--?----?----61 (3)

-edit- I don't need your whole stats page, just these weapons will do (as they are the most popular choices)

LRM5 - N/A (never used)
LRM10 - 41%
LRM15 - 38%
LRM20 - N/A (never used)
cLRM5 - 36%
cLRM10 - 34%
cLRM15 - 31%

What do you mean? One of the Archers is coming with x6 Missile Hardpoints and x4 Energy Hardpoints, 1M & 1E per arm, 2M per Side Torso, and 2E in the Center Torso.
I looked at the archers...the only one with more than 4 missile hard points is the one that has 9 of them. There is a 4 and 4 one but I didn't see one with 6 and 4.

The stat's page only logs like 1 in 50 games for weapons anyhow, and even at that it records half the information incorrectly so you can have weapons it thinks you've used 10 times with 25% accuracy doing 4000 damage.

I know right?

My PRETTY BABY with that exact build has seen 112 matches, but the weapon stats for iLRM-10s says 6 matches, fired 10840 missiles, 4219 hits, and 4454 damage dealt.

That means in those six matches, I've fired 1806 missiles when I only carry 1080 rounds a match for it... Posted Image

you hate my guts for using LRMs

Believe it or not, I don't.

I just go by experience. My experience has been overwhelmingly negative. Actually, exclusively so. Okay, maybe the guys in here claiming they're considerably better than 99.9% of the LRM boat captains out there truly are and you're doing a significantly better job.

so the LRM boat kind of SHOULD get some face time

I'd much rather have someone "supporting" me by pushing alongside myself, using both weapons and armour continuously. We both know LRM boats aren't build for that and don't excel at it (and most LRM boat captains won't even think of doing that in the first place...).

be a good support to my team both in face time and out of it

I'd much rather get fire support, if that's what's it going to be, by someone who can focus damage onto a specific location to cripple or kill quickly. Even an LRM5A+TAG spreads like crazy compared to other weapon systems and most certainly does not put out the sort of DPS SRMs can.

It quite simply boils down to the following: LRMs do not excel at what I'd like to see my team mates doing. The one thing they do provide that no other weapon system does is indirect fire. Which, coincidentally, isn't what I want my team mates to do. For everything else, you could as well bring a direct firing weapon.

Take this for example:

Now, I'm open to the idea that there are good players who can limit the damage they take from LRM's. After all, good players limit the damage they take from every other weapon as well. But in doing so, they're not pulverizing my teammates. I'd much rather have them hugging a wall waiting for the INCOMING MISSILE warning to go away than lining up a shot into a silly pugger on my team's backside.

Yeah, you can force an opponent into cover by lobbing LRMs at him (assuming your pugger gets you a solid lock long enough, all the time...). You could as well be providing long range cover fire with en ERLL Stalker and pulverize the guy once he's pushing out of cover.

Might be that, someday, I'll experience an LRM boat so magnificent that I'll be glad it wasn't something dedicated to direct fire. Might take a while for that to happen, though.

PGI's stat pages are notoriously out of whack at times.

I've even got W/L stats for 'Mechs I never played.

The hit/damage mismatch is caused by Side Torso component destruction and crits also giving you the damage for the attached arm.

LRM is much harder to use PROPERLY than a direct target weapon like super-convergence laser.

The subtleties of balancing indirect support fire, maneuvering to have LOS on your target, proper load out and how to integrate yourself into a team fight are far less intuitive than see-enemy-shoot-enemy direct fire weapons for the solo rambos. How many boats carry their own tag? How many boats lock their own targets? How many trawl through forums looking for advice on how to use LRM instead of just assuming it's a fire-and-forget weapon?

The weapon is fine. It's weak on its own because with proper team work, TAG and NARC, current LRMs will wreck face just as quickly as a Dakka Wolf - anything other than a minor buff would just make it instant OP once someone discover teamwork meta.
