Macross is where the original Idea came from for Battletech, originally called Battledroids.

I'm super excited to get into a Veritech Fighter (wrong universe or not)
Just for the Origin Value.

But powercreep? Really? Have you looked at it's hardpoints/locations? The only reason it has any place at all in the try-hard medium lineup is ECM and/or MASC.

Even so, that's sporting 3E 2B, with 5.5t payload space. That's just not an intimidating loadout.

To be fair, it IS a little out of place with that comparatively obvious anime heritage. Opinions might vary though on qhether it's out of place in an awesome way or in a silly way. I favour the former! Could've been even closer to the original (like the Archer IMO is).

No, because of PGI currently shrinking mechs and the size of recently released mediums (Crab,SCat), I expect the Phawk to be a really small chassis.

Yes, I hate the Phoenix Hawk so much, I just bought some today. Yep, I folded. I can't wait for June! And, as others have said, Battletech wouldn't exist without the Macross Saga/Robotech. So many classic mech designs come straight from it.

Just so you know PGI, if I have to hear Minmay sing "My Boyfriend is a Pilot" during combat then it's a deal breaker! I will sell my Phoenix Hawks!

SO MUCH THIS!!! I wish I could choke Minmay out > The worst part of the Macross/Robotech plot was that trite love story between her and Rick Hunter. I mean... Lisa was the obvious choice from the beginning.

Minmay is a teenage girl in every sense of the meaning. Lisa (Misa in Macross) is a professional, whom holds the Naval rank of LT. Command at the start of the series, making her by nature more mature. Rick Hunter is just being lead around by his **** for the most part.... Folker was my favorite character from Macross/Robotech.

Roy Fokker was a great character, I also liked Max more than Rick/Hikaru. It was mostly Minmay's fault but they were dumb teens and even as a child their romance was kind of annoying. I liked Lisa/Misa much better even then. Max and Miriya/Milia were a much cooler couple in my opinion. Damn, memories, I need to re-watch some of this stuff!

Fokker's death was such a shocker for me, the first time I saw it, never in my life at that point (read under 10) had a main character in one of 'my shows' die.

I had the same experience myself. Characters didn't die in most cartoons/anime that I had seen at that point. It left an impression and made me an anime fan at an early age.
