When you look at the MC cost of regular mechs it is a really good value. Comparing to the 3 cheapest blackjacks + bays:
1355 + 1255 + 1260 + 900 = 4770

The cheapest you can get that much MC for is 20.85USD. Then there's premium time and other goodies.

Smaller mechs will be more questionable, but even down to 35 tonners it is still on par with MC prices. The way I see it is the Kodiak is an insane deal.

EDIT: If they scaled compared to cbill/MC prices then the Kodiak base pack would be over 90USD. Now that would be a complaint thread.

Well they started with the Marauder, so you got a better deal than that with the Kodiak, but a worse deal with the Phoenix Hawk. Its a give and take.

Probably. Honestly, who'd post 20$ for a Locust?

While they are "supposed" to be equally viable, reality is, overall, they aren't.

Even if it was just dumbed down to a Light/Medium price and a Heavy/Assault price, I think it would be better representative, value-wise.

Agree, in Australia and the US$ to AU$ conversion is a killer.

The Basic pack coming my way looks like but will hold out for the Heroes. Really like the ROC but too much at this point in time. Maybe get it later or maybe MC it.

Since when has buying normal variants for MC been a good value?

Hint: Never.

When you sell less mechs you need to keep raising the price to keep the same income. Not too hard to figure out. Besides all you are paying for is early access, not tonnage.

The punchline is when they hit the store the 45 ton Champion and hero mechs will cost less than half the MC price of the 100 ton mech.

Ha ha ha ha ha!

Huh? Who doesn't use c-bills for the basic variants.

Free<<<< $40.

I'll buy a c-bill variant; and a champion and a hero for MC. Just enough to skill them up.

It probably has to do with the Hero(s) bundling in with them. Though Hero's also scale in price....

Whether or not you buy mechs for MC is a different thing altogether. All I'm saying is that 20 USD for 3 x 45 ton mechs, mech bays, and 30 days of premium time is less than what you would pay with MC.

If you are happy waiting for cbill release, then it doesn't matter what they charge.

If you're going to set a pricing baseline, you should at least set it to a baseline that is reasonably priced.

It makes sense to me. Is there any particular reason why the price in USD should be related to the price in c-bills?

I guess I depends on if you view the price as paying for early access + extras + premium time or paying for grind avoidance.

As I said in another thread:

"
This is getting out of hand. I was ok with the packs of multiple chassis. Then they added extra chassis as add-ons, ok cool. Then they added a fourth variant free for opting in early, sweet. Then they stopped with the packs and went to individual chassis, alright, they're classic mechs I let it slide. They also added the option to buy a hero add-on with the classics, ok cool. Then they added a fourth and fifth variant but you have to pay extra for them instead of getting the fourth for free as an early opt in, not cool, at least the variants (talking about he Kodiak) weren't amazing compared to the others. Now they add two hero upgrades (each at a cost individually) and the two extra variants at extra cost but they put one of, if not, the best variant in that group.

This has to stop. Too many variants being jammed into these packs, the freebie early opt in variant is gone, and now they're charging extra for it and a bad tag along buddy. Oh and two heroes now too (unless this is going to be a rare case like the Dragon but I somehow doubt that.). Cost keeps going up, the packs before had value, that isn't the case anymore.
"

I've bought every top tier pack to this point, I even bought three gold mechs to support BattleTech/Mechwarrior. That's including the Kodiak, even though that was a hard one to swallow. I accepted the Kodiak because it's a 100 ton assault. However, this one? eeeeh..... Really thinking this is where I stop. I love the mech, Alex has done an amazing job as always but even that isn't enough for me anymore.

Why should I pay what seems to be a vastly inflated price for a 45T robit, when I already have a vast stable of capable mechs that perform well and bring in the cbills at a decent rate?

This is the question I've asked myself over these silly single mech packs. MAD, yes I could see its benefits and it's one of my regular PUG gundams. WHM I bought, mainly more through nostalgia I admit, and it underperforms slightly perhaps due to overscaling.

Roflman, Archer, Kodiak and now this? Nah. I'm happy enough with what I've got. Must try harder #pgiplz

Cause you are gonna buy the Phoenix Hawk like the fanboys you are! And you are gonna like it!--PGI.

Because assault 'Mechs are not supposed to be "better" than other weight classes - according to PGI. Besides, they both took roughly the same amount of staff time to create and use roughly the same number of pixels.

except this excuse is BS as this hasnt been the policy all along.

Unless suddenly the lolcust costs the same as a atlas?
