Oh man, if NBT is anything to go by on what the clanners will run for scouting, I agree we'll see a streak-fest coming. I bet our mechwrites are already on it though.

UPDATE:
The drop weight dropped down 10 tons and our BLK/QKD/QKD/QKD Stormtrooper deck is no longer valid. We're switching to the GHR/QKD/QKD/QKD deck.

If you do not have a GHR, we'll also accept a BLK/QKD/QKD/BJ deck.

For official FRR scouting mode mech, I suggest this Griffin-2N build.

It outruns, outbrawls and out ECMs a streakcrow deck, it also counters ECMs on arctic cheetah decks as well as being strong against pretty much anything else light and medium and also useful in your main dropdeck if you're alternating.

When I come home tonight (about 19:00 GMT) I will go test scouting mode in this mech, and I'd like to try and assemble a group of 4 of these. I'll be on the hub.

Here is the typical Griffin-2N meta build for reference, that will probably work very well too, but I think being fast beats Artemis in scouting mode.

Here is a Griffin-3M version, (here is the typical 3M meta reference) having more structure but no ECM. This is the stronger mech in other game modes, but I think the utility and counter streak value of the 2Ns ECM is the correct choice in scouting mode.

So maybe the official stormtrooper scout could be the players choice of Griffin-2N and Griffin-3M with any of the 4 builds above?

We've been having a lot of success with the 2N as well. Especially the flamer build. Of the scouting matches I've played, Isengrim is 21-4. We've been bringing 1 HBK-4SP (tankiest medium in the game), 2 GRF-2N (obvious reasons you've stated) and an Oxide (Capping and chasing things down when needed).

I still want to hold out though..probably at least a week..to give time for meta and strategies to more fully develop before we issue out official decks for scouting.

Agreed, just want to put the prospective builds out there so more people tests the relevant ones.

Your setup looks really good too, perhaps a list of suggested combos like that is the better approach.

It would also be interesting to have 3 full brawlers to hold down the enemy and 1 dedicated capper, like 3 HBK-4SP and 1 Pirate's bane. (or full 12 JJ+ 280 engine spider 5v Posted Image)

Want to share my new GRF-2N with focus on medium and longrange scoutengagement like Polar or Plexus map. I had quite a success with it and its really easy to core streakscrows before they can reach you with their SSRMs. For short range I would recommend the 3M with a big STD to shield against Streaks.
We ve also done some testing with overloaded AMS against Streaks as well. The result is ~ 2 missiles per AMS from outside the 120m max range. So running away with 2 lights with 2 AMS each would negate around 12+ missiles tracking them. Helpful against streaks? sure but its worth the 2 tons extra ? Maybe.
We do have big advantages when it comes into a brawl anyway so dont bother to much about streaks. The streaks hype will settle soon because they get their asses handled to them ^^

The Pirate's Bane doesn't seem to play well in the piranha tank that is the scouting match. It's very hit and run, and scout mode is kami-zerker YOLO-JENKINS to BBQ-halla, with some 3-second cap points and intermittent dropships.

The poor guy I spectated in one of my 2 losses last night just couldn't do much with his peanut butter locust. Pillow-soft bunch, no sustainability. This sad panda thought maybe it would be fun to try too :(

I ran my GRF-2N for all my scouting drops though, and it proved itself every time, even when I potatoed hard. The mode is like a mini-Tukayyid: SRM-bombers are nasty Clan busters, because they're punchy and sustainable. Also, ClanTech legs are yummy. I was thinking of trying the Oxide, but I was having too much fun in the Griffin.

Dane, I'm not sure on the Hunchback conceptually, but know that I'm not knocking it. I'm wondering if the extra tankiness is worth the loss of speed. I ran the Griffin fast last night, with 4xSRM4A and an XL340 or more. 110kph is a good speed, and it was a lot of fun running down Clanners. Is the idea that the Hunchy will catch up alomst immediately after the 1st three engage anyway?

Next time I'm on and scouting, I'll probably try the GRF-3M and the Oxide in different drops. Fast and punchy is awfully nice. Then again, if I can get grouped up, maybe the Hunchy's worth a try too :D

-SO- just did 6 with 4x 2N's with SRM6s and flamers and won all 6 each match was 4 to 0. Just shutdown the clanners with the flamers and have roast bird.

Stormchicken legs, Flamin' Hot Cheetos, and BBQ HunchBabyBack ribs.

IceCream Ferrets and Shadow Cat Cobbler for dessert, too.

What's not to love? :D

I had hoped this mech would be decent enough for scouting as well, but without speed tweek it's a little slow.

I played blackjacks a long time ago, hated them. Couldn't wrap my head around them (though that was about a year or so ago and it was the BJ-1). Now....I still hate the mech lol. It's a strong mech I just suck in it, but I'll bring it for the sake of uniformity, and maybe someday I will get good.

Yeah that's what I was doing with it last night. 4SP with 5SPL 2SRM6a consistently pulling 4-500 dmg with it in scouting vs mostly groups of Ice ferrets. (also mostly losing since I was playing solo with pugs and zero target focus.)

so you have to go through a process of trying really hard to convince mods to pin your thread... hmm...

I'm just curious, a lot of people have asked about a "Hot map" dropdeck, I know that the QD doesn't do too bad on hotter maps, but what about the black knight? Is there a 'hot map version' of the BK we could run (maybe the 6B or the other two?)

"Cool" running BK build:
Remove two mediums, add a heatsink and up the engine to 360.

I think alternating in a MAD-3R dakka + mediums build is a good option on hot maps if you don't want to rebuild the whole deck and just switch the BK out.
