They ***** that you are a scrub/noob for not fighting them head on and capping them out.
Yet funny enough they put the salt in Assault.

Well, there is *** in Assault too. Posted Image

Generally Assault quick cap win is shunned because the essence of MWO is basically mech to mech combat, and earning rewards to get the next gundam. Assault mode violates both. Now, if there is a BIG reward bonus for cap win, or the bases are actually harder to take than just standing still within a square...

People should just learn to vote out Assault mode in the voting screen or deal with its mechanic. PGI did promise a rework of the Assault mode.

I hardly ever vote for Assault because theres always this collection of potatoes who instantly want to cap.

Like, why?

No ones getting paid *******.

Because quick caps are lame? Viable sometimes, but they're boring and turn over poor rewards. I wouldn't yell at people about them, but they're still not something that I'm enthusiastic about.

The explanation is simple:

The blame is solely in PGI's shoulders. In the past people who didn't want to play Assault have simply unchecked it in the Game Modes selection and that was it. Nobody forced them to play that game mode - they played Skirmish only and were happy with it.

But PGI has "improved" the game when the took this option to select gamemodes away, which means that players are now forced to play gamemodes they dislike. Magnificent decision - thanks PGI.

Ah! The cyclic assault topic. Good, at least better than the usual 'clans are op' or 'why we need xy mech'.

as capping is an objective on assault , just do it. Like really cap that base. Else you just split up the team diminishing the chance of those who actually fight and do not sit In a square, waiting for a bar to fill.

still better than skirmish where you deathball all the matches or lose.

At least you *can* play some tactics with the base cap mechanic. Sure, capping to win the match in 2 minutes is kinda lame for all, but on the other hand you lost because everyone was to lazy to turn around.

Because people that actually play the game mode and go for the cap, piss off the people that want to nascar and ignore their own base.

So when they fail to react to a cap, or even have an active scout watching out for a cap rush, they have 1 more thing to whine about.

i prefer Assault - because if you have a spot to defend, you actually get something vaguely resembling a battle line, with a bit of tactics involved

or you're supposed to, anyway

Before turrets where ever in this game people actually defended their base. Now everyone plays skirmish.

I guess some people have really busy lives and only have a limited amount of time to play. Maybe just time to play two or three matches at the end of the day. For those people, who don't get to choose the game mode they want, it's frustrating when a match basically goes to waste because both teams decided to attack base.

I try not to get too worked up about it, personally, but I understand why some people are frustrated. One of the unfortunate side effects of having a single public queue

WHY NOT DEFEND YOUR BASE?!?!

Just asking? It seems pretty simple ask you scouts to find the enemy while you sit at base and then travel out and meet the enemy. OMG people are so lazy.

Because the 1000 meter LRM turrets were pissing everyone off, so instead of switching them to an alternate weapon, they just removed all them completely.

Cause it will lead for 15 minutes standing on their bases for both teams. Obviously it's not that simple for a person so stupid that asks such silly questions Posted Image

Before the lazer vomit, before turrets, before a whole lot of crap. This game was a thinking persons shooter. Sadly it isn't anymore. People don't have the brain cells to see that role warfare everyone asks for can be done.

Light mechs/scouts can scout while you defend your base. Once enemy located you regroup and hit them hard for your 'skirmish' pleasure. If you prefer assaulting the enemy base instead then defend your base with the lights and send your bigger mechs in group to enemy base. If they get hung up then your scouts can re-enforce or go cap the enemy.

Edited because people are stupid and would get butt hurt.

Posted Image I've just... LOLed. To have scouts... for what? To cap enemy base instead? Yeah, what a twist Posted Image

Furthermore - have scouts in PUG match, where you have to deal with what mechs PGI random gave to your team.

The same demand as to ask for TEAMPLAY in PUG matches Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

I love assault. You can take your Daishi, sneak into the enemy base an light up all mechs as they trickle in one by one looking for an easy fight.
