Can Merc players fight on Faction Worlds (through the contract system) ?
If not, does that mean Faction players will never fight against Merc players ?

Same for Kai Allard Liao and about 90% of the Solaris VII Fighters.
Edit: And behaviour should not be dictated by game mechanics either.

As I see it, the Border Worlds are the only place where fighting will be taking place. If the Faction-Controlled spaces are effectively "bordered" by Border worlds, it would be impossible for Faction units to directly attack another Faction without first passing through a "Border" region.
Therefore, I believe that all fighting will be done in the border areas, with Mercs in control, but reinforced by regulars and possibly lone wolves (if they are allowed to compete in the real-estate portions). This could lead to some very interesting fights! After what I thought would be just a "fluff" update, I can't wait to see what the rest of the month has in store! Just my two cents.
EDIT: I am definitely leaning towards being a faction player now!
This quote from the Devs makes me wonder if a World cannot be both a Border and a Faction world at the same time occasionally..
"It's important to state now, that worlds can change from Border to Faction to Core , or any combination thereof.... "
Or faction and Core. I am sure sure there are going to be major historical battles that the Devs are going to NOT want a Merc company controlling ( CORE world ), yet allow us to participate in the battle (Faction and/or Border)

Kai fought for Davion though, at least from what I remember in the books. Solaris VII fighters fight for stables generally, and they aren't involved in planetary warfare between the factions.
I've never heard of a "bounty hunter" mechwarrior.

If you mean this guy, it sounds like he did most of his work in power armor, not in a mech (and is very silly). Sounds like he was essentially a Merc Unit of One, since he took contracts and all that fun merc stuff. Notice in the description that he kept joining various teams and people.
One person/identity does not Lone Wolves make.

It's fun to experience first person inside the Battletech universe, but at the end of the day it will grind you down, know you're following a super linear story/path.
The key then will be the Mech combat. It will have to be so flawless that it pulls you in every time you fight. Not impossible, but difficult yes.

For those who have nothing else better to do then this is great.
Some of us do have to work and can't spend all the time on line.
Also sinse 1 day in RL = 1 day in MW, will this come to a stand still when one group goes to sleep in one part of the world and another group wakes up?
Or is the basic attitude "if you wann play then take the good with the inconvenient?"

I could go into the weird dream that spawned this question, but I'll stick with the example that Leader Bob was called upon as the team leader for this mission and his avatar name even has the indicator. Halfway through the mission there's a lull and he needs to handle something in Real Life for a minute or two. He says that Warrior Jane is now leader for the time being, stats wise they're close, but he can't shift the indicator to her.
Note: I'm using indicator as a term in case a team lead gets more permissions to do things that others can't.

Let's say Kurita to Davion. Every gain of LP for Davion will be a loss of Kurita LP and when the next jump goes to Marik, what will happen then with Davion/Kurita LP? Davion negatively influenced and Kurita neutral or small decline by Kurita, because you don't have contracts there at the moment? Or is there only a loss of points if you fight against the contractor where you have already points? So Davion against Marik brings no decline of Kurita LP?
Furthermore, is there a negative list? 50 LP from Davion makes it impossible to work for Kurita?
I guess this could become quite interesting and would be a very interesting tool. Also combined with the possibility to buy specific House depending Mechs from the factions would be really nice. Higher LP = more exclusive Mechs from this faction.
I am really looking forward to it.
